Remember how the festive table looked like in your childhood. For sure on it (in addition to salads and specialties of my mother) was a treasured plate with a mountain of nuts, but not simple, but sand. This cookie was very popular and was considered a delicacy, and today it is not forgotten. If your family still has a baking dish called hazel, then it's a sin not to use it. We suggest you remember the recipe of the "Nuts" cookie and indulge the whole family and, of course, yourself.

"Nuts" are not simple, but sandy

The whole secret of this funny pastry is that inside the delicate friable "shell" of the dough is a delicious filling. Usually it is a boiled condensed milk or cream. In fact, "nuts" can be stuffed with anything: and chocolate paste, and custard, and jam. There would be a desire. If you have it, then read the recipe for the cookie.

The dough is prepared very simply. First 250 grams of butter is rubbed with 100 grams of powdered sugar, 2 yolks, soda and salt on the tip of the knife. Then, to the resulting mass, add a tablespoon of lemon juice and carefully injected 2 whipped proteins. Gradually, 3 cups of sifted flour is poured in and dough is kneaded. It should be gentle, but at the same time plastic.

It's all about "form"

But even if you know the "Nuts" cookie recipe, you will not be able to cook it without a special hazel. This is a form for nuts. It consists of two halves, one has grooves, and the other - protrusions. Thanks to this design, the halves of the "shell" are obtained, which we will subsequently connect. In each cavity of the mold lay on a small ball rolled from dough, and cover the other half of the hazel. You can do it in another way. Roll out a layer of dough wide with a finger, cover one side of the mold with it, and press the other side down. Remove excess material with a knife. The cookie is prepared by heating the mold on high heat for 3-4 minutes on each side. When the "nuts" are ready, gently pull them out and start preparing the filling.

What is there inside?

The traditional recipe for "Nuts" cookies offers cooked condensed milk as a filling. You can use this idea or come up with something of your own. It will be much more interesting if you put hazelnuts, half a walnut or some dried fruit in each unit. Finished sand "nuts" can be dipped in the remains of cream or condensed milk and roll in coconut shavings, waffle crumbs or crushed nuts. The kind of such cookies will be even more appetizing and spectacular.

For "unsweetened"

Those who do not like too sweet cookies, like cottage cheese stuffing. To make it very easy: mix a pack of fat cottage cheese with 50-70 grams of sour cream, 50 grams of powdered sugar and a handful of crushed nuts (you can also use candied fruits, raisins or chocolate chips). With this mixture, fill each half and connect. The cookies will turn out very gentle and satisfying.
