Should I sound an alarm if you feel numbness in the palm of your hand? To answer this question, one should remember how often and under what circumstances you are experiencing this phenomenon. After all, the reasons why fingers are numb, maybe a few. Let's look at these reasons.

If one day you woke up in the morning and felt that your fingers were losing sensitivity, but after a while everything returned to normal, do not panic: most likely, you just slept on that hand and it "zatekla". That is, blood is not enough to supply the tissues of the hand, which is why numbness occurred. Or the entire body lay for a long time in an uncomfortable position, which caused compression of the vertebral discs of the thoracic region, which eventually led to numbness of the hands.

Another reason why your fingers become numb is the prolonged wearing of a heavy bag on the shoulder strap. Tight cuffs in the shirt can also lead to temporary numbness in the hands. Often, when we write at the school board, we hang curtains or twist the light bulb, we also feel numbness in the fingertips. This is due to the fact that we hold our hands above our heads for too long.

The answer to the question, why fingers grow numb in frosty weather, is that the arteries and blood vessels narrow because of the contrast of temperatures. Frequent numbness of the fingers on the hands is observed in representatives of some professions. Especially this affects people who are forced to work long hours at the computer: keyboard and mouse management requires constant brush tension. The ligaments, muscles and tendons responsible for the operation of the fingers lie in the so-called carpal tunnel, and with constant tension, an inflammatory process occurs in this tunnel, manifested first in the numbness of the fingers, and then, if the stress is not removed, swelling and pain in the hands. This ailment of the wrist, which is called tunnel syndrome, occurs even in seamstresses, conveyor workers, milkmaids.

But speaking about why fingers are numb, it is impossible not to mention that this can be a visible sign of hidden and serious diseases. And if numbness of the hands is observed very often, then you need to see a doctor. Most often, the hands become numb due to the syndrome of the carpal canal, that is, pinching of the nerve due to inflammation and puffiness of the tendons. It can also be a consequence of the clamping of the neurovascular bundle, metabolic disorders, intoxication, vitamin deficiency, emotional breakdown, shoulder or forearm injury.

Very often our hands let us know about violations in those organs that are generally located far from the fingers. Serious diseases, from which a man's hands do not grow dumb, is osteochondrosis, a hernia or curvature of the disc, other pathologies of the spine of the vertebrae, including the neck.

It is also of no small importance what hand is numb. If it is left, then there is reason to suspect osteochondrosis of the spinal column. When you feel a characteristic numbness in the area of the little finger or the ring finger on your left hand, this may be the first anxious stroke trigger - report these symptoms to the cardiologist.

Let's talk in conclusion not only about why fingers are numb, but how to avoid it. When monotonous fingers work, let your hands rest as often as possible. Do simple gymnastics: shake with brushes, make several rotational movements, squeeze and unclench the fist. In cold weather, do not refuse gloves. In the early spring, increase the intake of vitamins A and B. If the numbness of the limbs is only a symptom of osteochondrosis of the cervical vertebrae or a similar disease, then you need to consult a specialist who in this case will treat the spine and not the hands.
