The content of quails is a profitable occupation for enterprising people who dream of earning a million!

Many enterprising people began to cultivate quails today. This business is very profitable, as the eggs of these birds are in great demand in the market because of their usefulness. Also very useful and delicious is the meat of this relatively recently domesticated bird.

In addition, the content of quails is not so difficult for those who are familiar with poultry farming. And economically it is even more profitable than, for example, the breeding of chickens.

The most beneficial is the content and breeding of Japanese quail. It is this breed that gives the largest number of eggs per year - up to 300 from one layer. Also, Japanese quail registered the largest eggs.

Favorably distinguishes "Japanese" from chickens is also the fact that in captivity they begin to be carried already at the age of one and a half months. Chickens should grow almost a year and a half before they start giving their owners eggs. And ostriches do start egg-laying in two, or even in three years!

The content of quails is also "voted" for a high percentage of hatchability and resistance to various diseases. And another help for the breeder will be a quail pomel, which is an excellent fertilizer for garden plants.

However, this bird, in addition to all its advantages, has drawbacks. This is its rather low "intellect" and fearfulness, as well as high thermophilic. Therefore, the poultry house, where these "mini-hens" will live, should be well heated.

In addition, care should be taken to arrange a "bath day" at least once a week for quails. Of course, to wash the birds with water and soap or shampoo is not worth it. It is enough simply to put in a cage a stable pot with river sand or a mixture of sand and wood ash. The most convenient will be a pallet with sides 8 cm. The substrate for "bathing" should be poured from 4 cm.

To sand during the "bird baths" did not scatter around, you can cover the container with a substrate on top of a box or a box, making a preliminary entry into the "bath room".

Quail contents Also provides for compliance in the cells of purity. For this it is recommended to pour sand on the floor of the enclosure or lay thick paper. Litter should be changed daily, because litter gives off not only an unpleasant odor, but also harmful to the health of people and birds gas. And the eggs of the quail are often carried not in nests, but directly on the floor.

At least once a week, the bird from the cells is transplanted to other places, loosing the bird's dwelling for "general cleaning". "Quartile" quail should not only be thoroughly washed with a brush, but also scalded.

Unlike chickens, these birds do not need paddocks, except for the Californian breed. Therefore, when talking about how to use cells to keep quails, it is appropriate to note that any, even those intended not only for birds, but also for rodents or rabbits, will do.

By the way, quail can be kept in urban apartments, of course, if you observe the necessary hygiene. True, one should refrain from exposing cells to a window sill or loggia, because the long stay of quails under direct sunlight induces them to peck eggs or each other. Temperature fluctuation also affects the health of birds in the best way.

Quails do not like loneliness, quickly become attached to each other. Therefore, one should not share those who have already "made friends" with each other, so that the birds do not grieve.

In a single cage, a fairly large number of quails can be placed. For a good egg laying on one square meter it is necessary to place up to 120 individuals. For 3-5 females, one male is allocated, this increases egg production and guarantees that all eggs will be fertilized.

Also, the content of quails requires that the diurnal light period be eighteen hours. In our locality, this can be achieved by making artificial lighting. Fit fluorescent lamps for these purposes . A slightly worse effect is obtained from conventional electric lamps.

It should also take into account the humidity in the room where the quail live. It should be from 50 to 70 percent. If the plumage of the birds becomes brittle, and the quail itself often sit ruffled and with an open beak, then rinse the floor indoors, place the pelvis and buckets around the cage with the bird, sprinkle water on the curtains. Thus, the humidity of the air can be increased.

But do not forget: the quail does not tolerate too high humidity. Therefore it is very important not to overdo it here.

Feeding quail is a little different from the correct feeding of chickens. While it is enough for the hens to give food twice a day, the quail requires a "lunch" 3-4 times a day, at the same time.

In addition to grain components, they need vitally important proteins: cottage cheese, fish or minced meat. Therefore, to the normal bird fodder should be added protein mass from the calculation of 2 grams per day per head. To a simple crushed grain mixture add 12 grams of protein food.

Do not forget about vitamin supplements. In addition to pharmacy vitamins, perfectly suitable for this purpose, dry carrots and chopped greens.

Like other species of birds, quail requires small gravel and crushed shell, which must be constantly poured into a separate bowl. You can also use a dried chopped egg shell.
