Why snazit a fingernail?

Almost every person in his life came across a situation where a fingernail tore off his finger or leg. The most common cause of the incident is the previous damage, impact or pinching of the horny plate. As a result, the nail can deform, change color and fall off.

Why is this happening? For example, you pinch your finger. The mechanical effect on the nail plate led to rupture of the vessels beneath it, possibly causing bruising. This will be followed by pain, redness of the plate and the finger itself. Over time, changes occur in the blood cells, which lead to a change in the color of the formed hematoma - it becomes green, blue or even yellow. The "bruise" is a region of tissue that is already not attached to the base. For this reason, the hematoma gradually peels off, the nail leaves the finger.

First aid for nail trauma: a list of manipulations

In case of injury to the nail plate, a number of manipulations should be carried out:

  • Remove shoes, socks (gloves, if it comes to hands);
  • Bring the injured finger under a stream of cool running water or dip it into a bowl of water;
  • If there is bleeding and severe hematoma, apply a cold compress;
  • Disinfect the wound with iodine or another antiseptic.

If the nail is left in place during the trauma, but it has suffered significantly, blood will accumulate beneath it, which will cause its further detachment. To prevent clotting of blood, you should try to remove it from under the nail. After this manipulation, the pain will decrease, and the nail may not get off.

If after a trauma a fingernail of tears, do not expect that it will quickly grow. The whole period of growth of the nail plate can last for a year. For a new nail to have an attractive appearance, you should wear comfortable shoes (in the case of feet) and avoid possible injuries.

With a similar problem, not only genetically predisposed may be encountered. A banal finger injury can lead to complications and nail loss. That's why you should not ignore the protection of hands and feet in the process of performing specific works. In the event of an injury, do not take time to seek medical help, even if the symptom does not seem threatening.
