Primrose flowers and care

Primula refers to a very famous kind of flower plants, which can be grown both outdoors and at home. What exactly makes primrose flowers so popular? There are many different types and hybrids of this primrose, but most of them are united by the fact that they are all fairly unpretentious in growing. The flowering period is up to five weeks, and many of them blossom until the end of autumn or, conversely, very early in the spring. However, we must remember that the flowers of the primrose still require proper care and a little care.

Planting and care

When planting in an open area, you need to consider the correct location of plants: if primroses are planted in the form of curbs on the legs - it is very important to maintain optimum soil moisture (especially in the summer), since in this area the soil can dry very quickly. It is also desirable to use only plants with a solid root system for good soil retention in place and take into account the illumination of the sides, so that the root does not dry out and the flowering period does not precede the time (usually the primroses are located on the north or west side). In this case primroses form beautiful sockets covering the entire surface of the soil.

If you choose the best plant in the area with individual large stones, then many well-known primula finely toothed, auriculate or Japanese are best suited here. It should also be remembered that when planting the umbrella structure of the inflorescence (or globular) in the summer hot season, you need to build a small shade to avoid the wrong opening of all flowers in the future (in the intense heat, not all will unfold).

For example, flowers primroses florinda, primrose Viala or Sikkim are very different from others in their love of wet places. Naturally, they are planted usually near various water bodies, however, this kind of plants still can not stand the long stagnation of spring thawed water. Unfortunately, in such unfavorable conditions, primrose rot. As for the earliest primrose, which is awakened at the end of winter, for them it is necessary to produce the first top dressing still directly on the crust of ice with the help of special mineral fertilizers. And for some kind of primula (for example, Japanese or finely toothed), it is necessary to carry out additional fertilizing only after harvesting the large leaves that have died off in the fall (a kind of carpet is obtained from these leaves in autumn). It will not be superfluous in the beginning of spring, the soil around the plants to loosen a little or, alternatively, at the discretion of sprinkling.

For a normal long flowering period, the soil for them should be regularly moistened with a warm humate solution (about 0.01%), especially when dry spring. And for even better lush blossoming fifteen days after the initial feeding, it is required to feed the plants a little superphosphate at a rate of about 15 grams per square meter.

Closer to autumn, watering the primrose flowers should be much less frequent, so that by winter the soil has become much drier. When these rules are fulfilled, the plants will be perfectly prepared for the winter period, so that in the future it will be very beautiful to bloom again. Many years experience of many gardeners states that it is not necessary to plant primula flowers more than four years in a row in the same place. It is better to make a timely transplant to another locality, having excavated the plant directly with a clod of soil and transferring it to an early prepared by the size of the hole. Just in case, you should take care of the location of the shade for the hot season. Usually the transplant is performed immediately after flowering, but sometimes it is possible later, but not later than mid-August.
