Apple-tree apple: features of care and cultivation

Among fruit ornamental crops apple apple (Siberian) - a representative of the Rosy family - is very popular. The place of its origin is China. In Russia, in natural conditions, it grows in Eastern Siberia. As a garden crop is grown almost everywhere. It is able to become an adornment of any garden, in the spring, recalling its blossoming appearance a small white-pink cloud, and in the autumn it is covered with small fruits, like bright beads.

Description

The plant is a small tree up to five meters high. The crown is round or umbrella-shaped. The trunk is rather sinuous, covered with gray bark. Elongated leaves are shiny, smooth, with a pointed tip.

Flowering usually begins in May and lasts for two weeks. The tree completely, like foam, is covered with white and pink flowers, the diameter of which is about 3 cm. They are located on long thin pedicels and collected in shields. Apple-tree apple, a photo of which can be seen below in the flowering period, is decorative not only in the spring, but also in September-October, when beautiful fruits appear on it. It is small, up to 1 cm in diameter, apples of orange-red color. Even after all the leaves have fallen, they will decorate the tree for a long time. Appleberry berry refers to early-maturing crops and can blossom and bear fruit only 3 years after planting. Fruits are not used for food, mostly they serve as a treat for birds.

Growth conditions

This kind of apple trees prefers nutrient-rich, moderately moist soils. They should be weakly acidic or neutral. Planting plants on a strong acid soil, it must be preliminarily lime. The most suitable soil acidity is 6-6.5 pH. Place for planting apple trees choose sunny. This is one of the most important conditions for abundant flowering and a rich harvest. In addition, when planting, it is necessary to maintain a distance of at least 5 meters between seedlings. This will not only ensure good fruiting, but also reduce the possibility of the appearance of various diseases peculiar to culture.

Of all the ornamental varieties, the unpretentiousness to the growing conditions is the apple-tree berry "Siberian". Cultivation of it is possible even on moderately fertile soils. This plant is characterized by high drought resistance and is able to withstand frost.

Landing

Yablon can be propagated with the help of seeds, cuttings, but there is a simpler and more effective way - planting seedlings. Plant young plants in early spring, until the sap flow has begun, or in the autumn, before the onset of frost. Pre-planting pits are prepared according to the number of trees and taking into account the future size of the crown. The diameter is about half a meter, and the depth is 70 cm. The seedling is placed so that the root neck is 5 cm above the ground, straighten the roots neatly and sprinkle with soil mixture (humus, leaf land, sand taken in the proportion of 3: 1: 2) . You can add a little peat and mineral fertilizer. After planting, the tree is watered abundantly. Two- and three-year-old plants bear painless transplantation. More adults get accustomed more difficultly and for the first two years slow down their growth.

In other ways, the berry apple tree "Sibiryachka" multiplies no less successfully. Cultivation from seeds is one of the most frequently used by gardeners. They are sown mainly in autumn, and exactly one year later, when the shoots get stronger, they transplant them to a permanent place. You can do this in the spring, but in this case the seeds are subject to stratification at a temperature of 0-5 ° C. To do this, they are placed in a refrigerator or in wet sand.

Features of care

In the first year after planting apple berry does not need top dressing. But from the second year of life it is necessary. Phosphoric, potassium and nitrogen fertilizers are introduced into the near-well zone in a dissolved form together with water. The number of them depends on the degree of soil fertility, an average of 15 to 20 g per tree.

In order to keep the decorative shape of the crown, it is necessary to trim. But do not do it too often. Remove only shoots that intersect each other, as well as weak and damaged. Pruning is performed at the beginning of spring, before the beginning of the growing season.

Virtually all varieties of decorative apple trees are winter-hardy and do not require special shelter from frosts. It is enough only to bind the stems, as well as the main branches of sacking.

Pests and diseases

Apple apple is susceptible to the same diseases as any other ornamental trees, however, to a much lesser extent. If the trees are properly maintained, then such problems can be bypassed. If the first signs of powdery mildew and / or scabs are found, immediate measures should be taken to prevent the spread of the disease. Especially dangerous is a disease such as a burn caused by bacteria. It spreads very quickly, so the hearth should be immediately destroyed.

Of the insect pests, the greatest danger is represented by green apple aphid. Its colonies colonize the tips of shoots, sucking out juices from young leaves. This leads to drying of the leaves and deformation of the shoots.

Great damage to the plant can cause hawthorn. Caterpillars of this butterfly in the spring gnaw out the contents of the kidneys, and in the summer they eat leaves, completely scraping the flesh from them.

If found on pest trees, you can destroy them manually, collecting masonry and caterpillars. But if there are many plants, their treatment with chemicals will be required. For the purpose of prevention, it is recommended that the trunks be whitewashed with lime solution, dig in the near-well zone and destroy the fallen leaves.
