Hydraulic arrow - what is it and how is it arranged?

The hydraulic arrow is a device that is a compensation chamber designed to link the boiler circuits to the heating system as a whole. This mechanism is used in domestic and industrial heating systems. The hydraulic arrow normalizes the temperature difference between the two circuits for one flow.

Purpose and functions

Most often this tool is installed in cascade boiler systems. This mechanism reduces the risk of oscillations in the flow of the circuit from the thermal carrier. Thus, the device of the hydraulic arrow allows it to mutually affect the two streams of neighboring water circuits. It is installed in different directions - horizontal and vertical. In some cases, this tool is used as an air separator and slurry separator. In the heating and cooling system it is also used to equalize the flow of the hydraulic system. When you remove various bubbles, the latter works very stably and qualitatively.

What else is special about the hydraulic arrow? The principle of operation of this device consists of several points. First, this mechanism creates equilibrium in the hydraulic system. And secondly, the hydraulic arrow removes various bubbles and sludge from the water supply system, thus preventing the formation of deposits in the device. All this has a positive effect on the operation of the boiler and the heating batteries in general.

The device of the hydraulic arrow

This part is made of special low-carbon steel, it is equipped with 4 chutes, a thermowell for temperature measurement and a perforated baffle. The system has two inlet and outlet nozzles. The first of them performs the function of connecting the boiler circuit, and the second serves the heating mechanism. Perforated baffle and thermowell for temperature measurement are mounted in the tank of the hydro-gun. Due to the presence of the first tool in the system, the direct circulation of the coolant of the boiler circuit to the heating circuit is excluded. Partitions installed at the bottom of the hydraulic arrow increase the process of elimination, and the valve fitting clears the device from contamination.

In what cases is it installed?

The hydraulic arrow is mounted when the primary circuit pump communicates with one or more of the second device in the same system. As a consequence, the risk of flow fluctuations in the coolant circuits increases. And thanks to such a device as a hydro-gunner, these effects are normalized to stable values, thereby excluding the possibility of negative effects of pumps on each other. Thus, this tool ensures the flow of water of equal pressure to all contours of the system. The flow velocity in the system is 0.1-0.2 meters per second.
