Military oath in Russia

From the earliest times, when entering the military service, a solemn promise was made to observe the laws and military regulations in force in the country. This tradition has survived to this day in most countries of the world. It exists in the army of the Russian Federation.

Solemn Vow

The military oath in each country has its own text, which reflects the essence of the state, historical traditions and established customs of the people. Throughout the formation of the armed forces of any country, the content of the vow often changes. This happens under the influence of many factors and, first of all, depends on the political situation in the state. An example is the oath of a soldier of the Red Army, which during the existence of the USSR has changed several times.

At present, the military oath is a solemn promise given by a citizen joining the Armed Forces. This oath of the soldier assumes certain obligations. They make up the meaning of the subsequent service, and the oath becomes the basic law of the warrior's life.

The content of the vow

The military oath of the Russian Federation is approved by a special law on military service and military service. When making a solemn promise, a soldier swears allegiance to his country, the Russian Federation. Strict compliance with the requirements of military regulations and orders of commanders becomes a mandatory rule for the entire period of his service. The forerunner of this solemn promise was the military oath of the USSR, and many who are now in the service in the armed forces of Russia at one time also solemnly pronounced it. I must say that in Soviet times the soldier's oath was more substantial than today's.

Acceptance of the oath is a whole ritual, in which not only the spoken words of the vow, but the solemn atmosphere, and the state attributes play a big role. For the first time, those entering the army service swear allegiance to the Fatherland before the State Flag and the Battle Flag of the military unit in which they are to perform army duties.

How does this happen

The military oath is given to the servicemen after the initial training, during which the training of newly called soldiers is carried out. Usually the term of a young soldier's course does not exceed two months. At this time, servicemen are assigned weapons and military equipment. Until the time of taking it to an oath, it can not be used for combat service.

The military oath is carried out on a public holiday, which is announced in advance by a special order. On the occasion of the oath acceptance, the arrival of relatives and friends is permitted. The date of acceptance of the military oath is noted in the military ticket and other registration documents of the serviceman.
