Alcoholic intoxication and its symptoms

Alcoholic intoxication is a combination of neurological, vegetative and psychiatric disorders that arise as a result of taking alcoholic beverages.

Alcohol in certain doses can create a sense of fun and freedom, relieve mental stress, improve mood. This effect is temporary and with the increase in the number of people drunk is replaced by excitation of the central nervous system with loss of self-control, with an aggressive or possibly depressed and depressed mood.

Alcoholic intoxication occurs in different people at different rates. It depends on the state of the body (hereditary predisposition, the degree of filling the stomach with food) and directly from the percentage of alcohol in the drink.

The state of alcoholic intoxication determines the amount of alcohol consumed per kilogram of weight, the status of the organism at the time of drinking, and also individual tolerance. Heavy intoxication can cause even small doses of strong drinks, if a person is very tired, exhausted. But, for example, signs of alcohol intoxication with a strong mental strain will appear only when using large doses.

The following stages of this state are distinguished:

• Easy alcohol intoxication (with a blood content of 0.5-1.5 ). For this state is characterized by a rise in mood, complacency, a sense of comfort, the desire for communication. However, there is a decrease in the ability to concentrate and overestimate one's own capabilities. All the troubles and problems that arise in this state are most often perceived to be much calmer and easier. People in this state often in stressful situations look much calmer sober. At the same time, there is a decrease in the volume and quality of the work performed, and the number of errors increases. It is also possible to disrupt the perception of time and space, which causes particular danger in the management of various modes of transport and work with driving mechanisms. All the memories of the period of intoxication are completely preserved.

• Intoxication of moderate severity (develops at a concentration of 1.5-2.5 ‰ in the blood). For this stage, features such as irritability, discontent, dissatisfaction, anger are characteristic. Perhaps the emergence of aggressive behavior. Reappraisal of opportunities is easy enough. A person is practically unable to control his emotions - reproaches and resentment towards others are flying. Gradually, there is a growing disruption in coordination, lethargy, drowsiness and apathy develop . This stage of intoxication often turns into a deep sleep. After awakening, the result of alcohol intoxication is felt : lethargy, weakness, depressed mood, weakness, decreased appetite, thirst, unpleasant sensations in the chest. Part of the events that occurred during the intoxication period, a person can remember indistinctly.

• Severe alcoholic intoxication (at a concentration of 2.5-3 ‰ in the blood). This state is characterized by a violation of orientation in the surrounding reality. At the person the facial expression is lost, speech is slowed down. Vestibular disorders such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness often develop . The more intoxication develops, the more pronounced becomes oppression of consciousness, even before the onset of coma, breathing slows down, the work of the cardiovascular system decreases, and muscle relaxation that leads to immobilization also develops. Occasionally, convulsive seizures may occur. Possible development of paralysis of the vasomotor or respiratory center, which entails death. For this degree of intoxication, full amnesia is characteristic.
