The placenta on the front wall of the uterus: an excuse for excitement or a variant of the norm?

Every woman expecting a baby knows how important the placenta is. Despite the fact that this is an interim body, it is impossible to overestimate its significance. Through the placenta, the child receives oxygen and nutrition. After another routine examination on the ultrasound machine, women are sometimes informed that the placenta is located along the anterior wall of the uterus. So what does this mean? Is it the norm? And will not hurt the baby?

Of course, any specialist can assure that the located placenta along the front wall is not a pathology. This in no way will affect the course of pregnancy and the birth process. By the way, the placenta is such a peculiar organ that can attach itself as and where it pleases. Most often it is located in pregnant women yet on the back of the uterus. In rare cases, it can attach to the area of the uterine fundus. And sometimes, for unknown reasons, it is located in the place of exit from the uterus, thereby partially or completely blocking the baby's path for independent birth. This already applies to pathology, in which case a planned caesarean section is prescribed .

In general, if the placenta is located on the front wall, then do not worry much. In the first trimester from a doctor you can hear about too close a presentation to the exit of the uterus. But this is not a reason for excitement. If this diagnosis is put in 6-8 weeks, then for 25-26 weeks about it no one will remember. As the pregnancy progresses, the placenta rises. Therefore, during childbirth, it does not interfere with the child at all.

But still, what could be the location of the placenta on the front wall? There is one nuance: the whole point is that with caesarean section (if it is needed), the incision will take place exactly at the location of the placenta. It is fraught with such complications as bleeding. But before the operation, doctors specify the location and try not to bring to the abundant blood loss.

This is perhaps the only thing you can worry about (but not too much!) If you have a placenta on the front wall. It is worth noting another important fact. During repeated pregnancy, the placenta is often attached just on the site of the old suture from the cesarean section on the uterus. This is the only feature that should be paid attention to in subsequent pregnancies.

A woman, expecting a child, should know about how the placenta is located - along the front wall or on the back. And also to specify in advance whether this will interfere with childbirth. But, as a rule, if a woman has a risk of having any problems, she is put in the maternity ward several weeks before the expected date of delivery. This is necessary to prevent complications from both the child and the woman. So it can be argued that a pregnancy with a front location of the placenta will not at least be anything different from everyone else. The birth will pass without complications and will end with the appearance of a healthy, strong child.

In some countries there are very interesting usages associated with the placenta. After a birth it do not take away, and give to young mummy. According to the custom, it must be taken to your house and buried under a tree. But in our country it is examined and then disposed of.
