How to apply for an application in a diploma correctly

What do you need to know in order to correctly design not only the main part of the diploma, but also not forget such structural elements as applications?

Diploma, or, as they say, an explanatory note, contains the results of a study conducted by a student - a future specialist in a certain field. It is assumed that he copes with the task himself. However, in the case of emerging issues, there is a leader. He can not only orient on the chosen topic, but also answer the question of how to formalize the application in the diploma.

Note that this is one of the parts of the explanatory note, which is not always mandatory. The fact is that there are a number of disciplines or topics that have a predominantly theoretical character. They may not contain the kind of information that should be put into applications.

If the content requires them, then first of all you need to turn to the methodological guidelines for writing and design of a thesis project or work. Such kind of development always exists on the graduating department. They can tell how to apply for an application in a diploma.

Their purpose is to provide more complete information about the research conducted in the work. There may be various data that are relevant to the topic. In the main part of the diploma they are not available for the reason that they can clutter work. Therefore, large tables or cumbersome schemes, accounting documentation or any other materials are placed at the end of the diploma in the form of a separate section, which is called.

The structure of the diploma and the place in it of applications

There are several components in the diploma. Since our tasks do not include detailed consideration of them, we will briefly discuss them.

  1. Title page - contains information about the author, the leader, the name of the organization in which it is performed, etc.
  2. The abstract is an obligatory brief accompanying of the explanatory note, which contains brief information about the research conducted by the student.
  3. Task - sometimes called technical, here are some data about the object of research, this form is used in technical specialties. This part may be absent.
  4. Contents - the contents of the explanatory note, which includes the names of all structural elements. Here are the page numbers on which the names are located. In the last paragraph, as a rule, there are applications.
  5. Legend, abbreviation or abbreviation. Contains a list of these elements with explanations.
  6. Introduction - introduces into the course of the study submitted to the defense on the basis of highlighting the relevance, purpose, objectives, object, subject, methodology, etc.
  7. The main part consists of sections and other constituent parts. Here the results of the research conducted by the student are consistently presented. As a rule, it includes three sections with the corresponding subdivision into subsections, and in some cases - into paragraphs.
  8. Conclusion or conclusions. Sometimes this may include practical recommendations.
  9. List of sources used - contains a bibliographic description of the literature.
  10. Applications - a kind of continuation of the study. They are a separate section, including the materials necessary for a deeper disclosure of the topic. He can sometimes be absent. In the case of presence, you should pay attention to how to formalize the application in the diploma.

Substantial aspect in accordance with GOST

What kind of information can be contained in the applications? The decision in this case the student should accept together with the scientific adviser. As a rule, recommendations on this section are determined by the issuing department, which makes a decision based on the specifics of its scientific activity.

However, one should remember here that it is necessary to design an application in a diploma in accordance with GOST. Therefore, you should refer to the rules stated in it. For this type of work, GOST 7.32-2001 is used. Here, in paragraph 5.12, there is information that applications can contain those materials that are associated with the completed research, but for a number of reasons are not included in the sections of the main part.

Traditional Content

Using the generally accepted rules of writing a diploma, we note that the applications include materials that go beyond the proposed format of presentation, which allow a better understanding of the content of the work and the meaning of all actions produced by the author.

Typically, this includes:

  • Large tables and cumbersome calculations - these include those that exceed the standard page format;
  • Graphic materials - here put drawings, models or diagrams that go beyond the A4 format;
  • Reference information: financial or accounting reporting of the enterprise, internal documentation characterizing certain aspects of the organization's activities (orders, codes, contracts, charters, etc.);
  • Materials, reflecting the methods and approaches used in the research part (questionnaires, questionnaires, answers and explanations to them, etc.).

Formal aspect. General Provisions

Here you should pay attention to how to properly draw an application in the diploma. This item is dealt with in clause 6.14 of the above-mentioned GOST, which contains a number of rules.

1. The application can be issued as a continuation of the diploma. In this case, the information is placed on subsequent sheets. Sometimes you may need a separate edition. For the thesis, as a rule, there are quite a few, but not more than 10.

2. Obligatory is the presence in the main part of the work links to the relevant applications. Based on the order of their mention in the explanatory note, a sequence of their location is constructed.

3. Each next application should start with a new page. Even if the above chart or table takes up very little space. It begins with the word "Application", followed by its designation and name.

Further, based on the proposed examples, it will be possible to better understand how to design an application in a diploma. To paraphrase a proverb, let's say this: it is better to see at least once what it is like listening to one another endlessly.

Normative aspect

Now a few words about the intricacies. So, how to make out applications in the diploma? According to GOST each of them has its own title, which begins with the indication of the type of information presented in it. That is, if there is a table or a diagram, then this word follows, and the corresponding name follows. If other materials are placed, then a paragraph is simply indicated with a paragraph.

Application materials should be directly related to the provisions set forth in the work. To link everything together, you need to know how to make links to applications in the diploma. Here it is necessary to remember the following:

  • Applications should have a designation that will link them to the text of the work - for this purpose use the uppercase letters of the alphabet, usually Russian;
  • Begin with "A" and then in order;
  • Exceptions to this rule are the letters: b, b, b, vowels: E, 0 and consonants 3, 3, 3;
  • Sometimes the use of the Latin alphabet is allowed;
  • In some cases, the designation is possible with the help of Arabic numerals.

All materials are processed in a single system: the word "application" is written equally on all of its sheets. This is done in full accordance with the methodological recommendations of the department on which the diploma will be protected (Appendix A, APPENDIX A, APPENDIX 1, etc.). The headings are also delivered in the same way. The word "application" itself can be located in the center of the top line or on the right side. The point after it is not set.

Decoration of tables, figures and schemes

A few words about the location and designation of these elements. It is known that in some cases it is impossible to do without them.

So, if you want to provide statistical data, and the table is large, then we already know where to place it. Because there is already some idea of how to make applications in the diploma.

Example: "Appendix D". From the next line from the paragraph "Table D.1 - Results of financial activities of LLC" Zarya "for 2014-2015." If it is large, then on the next page indicate: "Continuation of Table D.1", and do so until its end. On the sheet where it ends, you need to write: "End of Table D.1." In the appendix shown in the example, indicated by the letter "G", there can be not only table data, but also information of another form. In this case, indicate: "Figure D.2" or "Diagram G.2."

Sometimes the designation of each page is required. If, for example, application K has several figures, tables or diagrams, you must indicate on the first that it is an "Appendix K". The next one is "Continuation of Appendix K", the last one is "End of Appendix K".

Examples of design

As already noted, all the data presented in the work must be interrelated. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to remind once again how to properly design applications in the diploma.

The example is given in quotes, which need not be used in the text: "The scheme of organizational and management structure of LLC Vostok is in Appendix B." On the basis of this we obtain the following. APPENDIX B. The next line is "Scheme B.1, which has the name" Organizational and management structure of OOO Vostok ". Given that such images take up a lot of space, they are better placed in the corresponding section. Moreover, you can place them there both in book and in landscape format.

It is clear that an illustrative example allows you to get a more complete idea of how to formalize the application for a diploma. The sample, shown below, will once again be convinced of this.

The role of applications in assessing

Considering that this is the final part of the diploma, you should not take it lightly. It is here that there is an undeniable confirmation of the student's abilities - both as a researcher and as a practitioner.

The materials placed in the annexes clarify certain provisions of the sections and can serve as confirmation that the author of the work, using certain analytical techniques, owns them and as a future specialist deserves an excellent mark and appropriate qualification.
