Hepatitis D and ways to treat it

Hepatitis D, or as it is also called hepatitis delta, is an extremely dangerous and serious disease. In many countries of the world, the number of fatal cases after infection reaches 25%. By itself, the disease does not imply an independent infection, that is, you can not become ill with it "for no reason at all." However, this virus disease can appear against the background of the hepatitis B. The treatment of this disease is very difficult and is accompanied by the use of a large number of drugs and strict adherence to the regime. The whole process of treatment of hepatitis D should be conducted in a hospital. Thus it is necessary to carry out both local and complex therapy. The infection itself can appear quite suddenly and seriously complicate the course of hepatitis B. Its incubation period is about 1 to 1.5 months (this is less than for hepatitis B).

Like many other forms, hepatitis D is very widespread throughout Europe and the United States, as well as in particularly epidemically disadvantaged countries, which include almost all countries in South America and Africa. This virus is found in almost half of those infected with hepatitis B, and the result of treatment depends strongly on the stage at which it was found. The only pathogen of the virus can be only a person, although it is possible to vaccinate it laboratoryally to monkeys already susceptible to hepatitis B. Hepatitis D leads almost inevitably to cirrhosis of the liver, so it is worth serious approach to the issue of strict food restriction.

There are several prominent symptoms of hepatitis D. It all starts with a banal loss of appetite. After a while, the patient develops chronic nausea and vomiting, a constant sense of fatigue. And finally, yellowing of skin color, eyes, as well as dark urine. When all these symptoms occur, a person should immediately call a doctor. Distinguish between co-infection and superinfection of hepatitis D. It should be noted that with co-infection the patient's chances are significantly higher than if he has a superinfection. Most often, these types of diseases are diagnosed by a routine blood test.

To date, there is no really effective treatment for this disease. The fact is that until the drug is developed from this form of hepatitis. In most cases, hepatitis D, the treatment of which is extremely difficult, is treated with the same drugs as hepatitis B. But the problems follow. Not all medicines can have a positive effect on the patient. Some of them are simply ineffective against the bodies of the virus, and their use is completely impractical. Studies using peginterferons, which are used to treat hepatitis B, show only a slight decrease in hepatitis delta viral activity, and not complete suppression of it. Therefore, all that doctors have for today is Interferon. Although work is underway to create new drugs that will be much more effective.

All that remains to add is that it is better not to get Hepatitis D, than to be treated for it. There is no vaccine against this ailment, but there is a comprehensive vaccination against hepatitis B. In order not to catch delta hepatitis, you should go through all the stages of vaccination and at the same time minimize the risk of infection with hepatitis B. If you are cured of this terrible disease, then all Equally calm and even life you will only dream. It will take years for the body to recover from the effects of hepatitis D, and even more time to recover. If you are not lucky, and there was a superinfection of hepatitis D, then, as it is not unfortunate, but you will hardly be able to avoid liver cirrhosis . Therefore, take all precautions to avoid a heap of problems. Your health depends on you. Be healthy!
