Wall covering with gypsum plasterboard - quick repair method

Gypsum cardboard, as a building material, is now known in almost every home. It became popular due to its availability, convenience and variety of applications. Alignment and plasterboard walls, partitioning, niche construction in walls, decorative planning elements - all this is easily arranged with the help of such sheets. The main advantage of this building material lies in the speed and ease of installation, which makes it indispensable for rapid repair of premises with their own hands.

Fastening of plasterboard to the wall can be done in one of two known ways - frameless or frame.

In the first case, gypsum boards are attached to the reconstructed wall surface with special glue. The technology of this work is simple. Perhaps the most time-consuming stage is the preparation of walls, but it will not be possible to neglect the thoroughness of this process, otherwise the result may be unsatisfactory. Walls should be checked for durability of the covering layer, cleaned and strengthened, the crumbling areas should be primed. In addition, you need to make sure that there is no spatial deformation of the walls. Drywall sheets are glued using special purpose gypsum mastics. It is applied to the cut parts by a point method or by continuous bands along the perimeter and along the middle, then the sheet or part is applied to the wall. Using a level and a plumb, the sheet is aligned on the wall with respect to the vertical and evenly pressed. The next sheet can be aligned with the previous one. The covering of walls with plasterboard by gluing is not recommended in premises with a ceiling height higher than the height of the sheet.

If the walls are uneven, they have deviations from the vertical, and also, if necessary, strengthen the insulation of the premises, a wireframe method is used. In this case, you will need to pre-assemble the profile for gypsum board, from which the frame (crate) is formed to fix the sheets. The voids between the profiles of the crate serve for laying communications and for filling with heat-insulating material.

The covering of the walls with gypsum boards starts with the marking of the floor and ceiling with lines, along which the guiding profiles will be fastened . With the aligned aligned lines, the guide profiles are attached using screws and dowels. Next, mount the suspension for the installation and fixing of vertical racks, and then the racks themselves. As a result of the installation, a strong, rigid structure should be obtained. Before fixing sheets of plasterboard, lay communications, laying insulation.

If the height of the room is greater than the height of the sheets, then mount them in a staggered manner, using additional horizontal profiles. These profiles are connected with vertical stands by special fastenings - crabs. Plasterboard panels are attached to the crate by self-tapping screws, which tightly attract them to the profile.

After the plasterboard walls are finished, the surface must be prepared for further finishing - priming the grooves from the screws, gluing the joints with reinforcing tape and applying the entire wall to the finish putty.

Many home craftsmen can easily cope with the plasterboard walls. The most difficult part is to observe the exact geometry of the walls, so that as a result of the work you do not get an ideally smooth, but "piled up" wall.

Aligning the walls with gypsum boards allows improving the heat and sound insulation of the premises, besides, it is easy to conceal all communications behind the false wall. With the help of this material, you can realize many original design solutions - arches, niches, decorative ceilings with hidden illumination and other structural elements.
