Local History Museum, Togliatti: address, mode of work, exhibitions

Local History Museum (Togliatti) has long been the main exhibition area of the city. Today there are thematic exhibitions, meetings with masters of the word and experts in history, master classes for children, an extensive excursion program and a planetarium.

Description

The Local History Museum (Togliatti) was opened in 1962. By order of the authorities, the main exposition was moved from the city of Zhigulevsk to the city of Stavropol. The first exhibition occupied one room, the task of the staff was the collection of funds, the formation of documents and the creation of excursion programs. As the collections and exposures grew, the museum had to change its location several times.

Since 1979, the Local Lore Museum (Togliatti) has settled down in the center of city life, being its participant and chronicler. The exhibition halls were located on the first floor of a residential building on Lenin Boulevard No. 22. The main exposition is devoted to the native land and is called "Stavropol provincial", it traces the history of Stavropol from ancient times to the present.

The exhibition halls, where permanent expositions are located, occupy 800 square meters. For temporary exhibitions, an area of about 600 square meters is provided, 576 m 2 for storage of funds. The total number of items of storage - more than 62 thousand units, the main fund contains more than 39 thousand unique exhibits. Provincial Stavropol

Permanent exhibition in the museum of local lore (Togliatti) is devoted to the history of origin, development of the city and the whole region.

The exposition "Stavropol Provincial" contains sections:

  • History of the region in the ancient world . The exposition presents materials of archaeological excavations of the Bronze Age, bones of fossil animals, primitive tools of Neanderthal man, valuable evidence of funeral customs, specimens of the first cast from metal ornaments, household items, etc.
  • Dwelling in the Bronze Age. Recreation of the living conditions of the ancient man was made possible thanks to the settlements found in the process of excavation near the village of Khryashchevka. The staff of the museum reconstructed the living conditions, the way of life of ancient people and the interior of the dwelling in which the whole tribe lived - about 150 people.
  • Muromsky town. The settlement belongs to the Middle Ages, it was arranged by the foreign Bulgarians. Remains of handicraft workshops, noble houses, smithies were found on the territory of the complex. In a wide variety in the exposition there are original jewelry, brought from Asia, the Baltic States, Russia and other places. The history of the nationality is traced during the Tatar-Mongol yoke and further to assimilation with the Russian tribes.
  • The foundation of the city of Stavropol. By the decree of Queen Anne Ioanovna in 1737 the city of Stavropol was founded. To engage in its laying and arrangement was sent a prominent scientist Tatishchev, who gave life to many Urals cities. The first city structure was a fortress with fortified redoubts and a Cossack garrison. Gradually, the city grew up with the church, the school, the handicraft village was being settled, and agriculture was being established. By the end of the 18th century, Stavropol had become a district town with a population of about three thousand people. The exposition is rich in objects of ancient life and documents of several centuries.
  • The Pugachev uprising . The exposition contains the history of the Kalmyks of the Stavropol region joining the Pugachevsky revolt.
  • The war of 1812 . The stand tells the story of the creation of the Kalmyk regiment in the fight against Napoleon. During the fighting, the soldiers of the regiment repeatedly demonstrated genuine courage, for which they received awards and gratitude from the Fatherland. During the war 477 Kalmyks received orders, insignia and other awards. On the day of victory, many took part in the parade held in Paris.
  • Local landlords Orlovy-Davydovs. The exposition reflects the relationship of landlords and serfs, the conditions of life, the life of peasants and the nobility's estate, revolts against the willfulness of the landowners and the formation of a protest movement of the peasantry in the middle of the 19th century.
  • Stavropol county at the turn of 19-20 centuries. The section tells about the changes in economic relations after the abolition of serfdom.
  • Peasant folk crafts. At the stands there are exhibits of traditional crafts (pottery, embroidery, felting, etc.), folk peasant suits, objects of work and life.
  • Culture and medicine. The work of natives and guests of the Stavropol region, such as A. Neverov (writer), D. N. Sadovnikov (poet), I. Repin (artist), E. Makarov (artist) and many others is considered. The development of medicine was supported by local authorities - in 1822 the first city hospital was founded, kumy treatment was developed, a public sanatorium was built, where even the poorest sections of the population were treated.
  • The urban life of Stavropol on the turn of the 19-20 centuries. Reconstructed the interior of the apartment of a prosperous citizen. The exposition presents original pieces of furniture, ancient folios and books, photographs of those years and much more.
  • Revolutionary movement . The Local Lore Museum (Togliatti) singled out a stand dedicated to revolutionaries and propagandists of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, calling for the overthrow of the existing system, enlightening the peasantry and workers. At the beginning of the 20th century, the peasantry of Stavropol was most active in the protest movement, which resulted in the destruction, the burning of 10 barque estates in the period of 1905. In 1917, the local population actively supported the proletarian revolution.

Educational programs

The funds of the local history museum store more than 63 thousand historical objects. Monuments of material, spiritual and cultural heritage are divided into 42 sections of the collection. Employees are proud of the beautifully preserved furniture dating back to the 18-19th centuries, rare coins, household items and everyday life.

The collection of books in the library fund contains 15 thousand volumes of literature of various directions, including reference books, local history books, rare editions of the 18-19th centuries that have been taken to the museum from private collections, modern periodicals. The library's funds can be used in an open depositary.

Exhibitions

The museum activity is devoted not only to the replenishment of funds and the maintenance of existing expositions. A great diversity in the activities of the institution is made by a variety of exhibitions, seminars, discussions. The exhibition in the Local History Museum (Togliatti) is always an interesting event for all residents of the city. The poster of events for April 2017 promises photo exhibitions of local masters, a meeting of the philosophical cafe "Ogloblya", children's educational programs and much more.
