Computer output devices

With the beginning of mass distribution of computer technology in everyday speech, the term "data input-output devices" was increasingly encountered. Under it are hidden whole groups of different devices. In this paper, we will describe the most popular of the two groups (output and input devices) with reference to a home personal computer.

Many people know a funny story, when the question: "What computer do you have?", The user, without much hesitation, answers: "Samsung", after reading the name on the monitor. Merry people even came up with a similar anecdote. It seems ridiculous, but even now there are still users who respond exactly as well. Of course, you can point to an error, but it is much more efficient to explain what output devices are.

A computer that does not have the ability to produce the results of its work in one way or another is a thing in itself, and completely useless. The output devices are for outputting results. Among them, one of the most important is represented by a monitor. The computer regularly performs the tasks and answers the monitor. In this case, "answers" mean not only numbers, but also any visual information. Even watching a movie is a calculation presented in the form displayed on the screen. Obviously, the question about the computer can not be answered by reading the name on the monitor. These are different things, connected only indirectly.

Output devices are not limited to a single monitor. No less important are the functions of the sound adapter: even the first computers could play relatively complex compositions with the help of a speaker (PC-speaker), and now some applications even refuse to start if the system lacks a full-fledged sound card.

The next popular device is a printer, the characteristic feature of which is that with its help the computer is able to output data to paper. Currently, prices for them have decreased significantly, so often the printer is immediately purchased with a computer.

In addition to the above components, there are specialized data output devices that are rarely used at home.

To input a task into the computer, input devices are used. Their list is much more extensive than the previous group. This is very simple: a person has only five senses, and the most simple and rational to interact with two of them, but there are much more ways to enter data available to a person.

The main device is the keyboard. By means of it, 90% of the information to be processed is entered. For many years, attempts have been made to press it, replacing it with something more optimal. For example, the idea of voice input is very tempting: science fiction writers have long understood its advantages and almost do not remember about the usual keyboard.

The principle of voice input programs is based on the analysis of words spoken by a person and converting them into entered data. It looks like this: the program is started, the microphone is connected and control commands are given or the text data is read out. When the words "minimize the window" there is a collapse, etc. A set of text is very simple, because the computer takes on the functions of a stenographer. Alas, the level of recognition of the spoken words is still low.

Manipulator type "mouse" is familiar to all. With the advent of graphic programming interfaces, it has become very popular.

Trends in development allow us to assert that very soon monitors with touch screens will appear and become affordable.

On the shelves of electronics stores you can find various joysticks and even high-tech steering wheels that will interest fans to play computer games.

Artists and designers use a light pen in their work, thanks to which the picture to be drawn immediately gets to the computer.
