What documents are needed to travel to Ukraine by car?

Ukraine attracts Russian travelers not only for its amazing nature, for a lot of historically significant places, for an inexpensive and comfortable holiday by the sea, but also for the fact that no special permits are needed to enter this country. You can just sit in the car and start off. What documents will you need to travel to Ukraine? It can not be that at all no! This is what we will talk about in the article.

Documents for travel to Ukraine: general rules

The governments of Russia and Ukraine signed an agreement on visa-free travel of their citizens, so for the entry of Ukrainians into Russia and Russians into Ukraine, only a document proving the identity and confirming citizenship - an internal passport of an approved state sample will be needed. If among travelers there is a citizen of the Russian Federation who has not attained the age of 16, he will need the following documents for traveling to Ukraine: the original of the birth certificate with the stamp proving citizenship or a separate insert indicating this (issued before 2007). It should be noted that Russians can have a passport at the age of 14. If the border is crossed by children with their parents or one of them, then no additional documents will be presented at the border. If the child travels alone (meaning without relatives), he will need such documents to enter Ukraine: a birth certificate, a power of attorney for the accompanying person with the confirmation of the consent of the parents (or one of them). The last document must necessarily be notarized, otherwise it will be invalid and the child will not be released from the country.

Documents for a trip to Ukraine by car

Undoubtedly, it's nice to be independent of the timetable for the movement of trains and planes, from urban transport, and especially when you are in a foreign country. After all, so many places need to be visited in such a short time, and being a pedestrian, it is simply impossible. Those wishing to travel with their own car must carry the following documents for traveling to Ukraine: a passport of a Russian citizen, a driver's license, a vehicle registration certificate (no need for a vehicle), a civil liability insurance policy. If the owner of the car is not behind the wheel, but is in it as a passenger, then no additional documents need to be made out. If the owner of the car remains in Russia, then the driver must provide a power of attorney for the right to drive , certified by a notary.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that the address of the owner's registration in the certificate of registration of the vehicle must coincide with the address of the residence permit in his passport. According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, when changing the owner's residence, the certificate is also subject to replacement. In Ukraine, there is no clear rule on this matter, but Ukrainian customs officials can pretty much get their nerves on it.

The insurance is issued within 10 minutes at any customs office at any time of the day. It's nice that neither on the border, nor during the registration of insurance, nor in Ukraine, any additional documents (medical certificates, a coupon of inspection) will not be needed. But it is important to take into account some requirements for the car. In Ukraine, it is forbidden to use the vehicle with tinted front side windows and windscreens, without a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher, and also import more than 20 liters of gasoline (except the tank) into the country. For this, the traffic inspector can remove license plates from the car, and further travel will be in question.
