Business informatics (specialty). Who to work after training?

Business informatics is a completely new specialty for current students. Therefore, quite a few, after hearing the word "business", immediately run there. But do not make hasty conclusions. Let's talk about what the Faculty of Business Informatics is. Also find out what is the use of it.

Innovations

Business Informatics is a specialty that has taken one of the leading positions recently among entrants. Of course, after all, in its description, you can see that a person who has been trained in this direction will be able to do quite a lot. As for the work, it is not discussed at all - of course, such specialists will be very appreciated, especially in IT-technologies. In the Higher School of Economics, business computer science has been taught for several years. We can say that these are the "pioneers" of this direction.

Highlighting the "business information technology" among all areas, the student will, of course, "lead" to a tempting title and submit documents for admission to it. Hence there is a huge competition. But is everything as good as it seems? And is business information technology so popular - a specialty that is still not really known to any of the students?

Difficulties in choosing

The Faculty of Business Informatics, as it has been repeatedly said, is quite a new direction. Of course, many students (and parents) want to know what they are learning in the course of such training. This is where the first problems that the student faces begin.

The first thing that can shock is the items needed for admission. As a rule, business computer science, a new and unexplored specialty, requires the children to surrender the Russian language, mathematics and .... social science. A tempting offer, especially for those who were going to enter a conventional economist. The majority of entrants change their opinion in the direction of innovations. But over time, questions begin: "Business Informatics, who should work with such an education?" First let's see what the experts are studying, which are being prepared in this direction.

Math or ...

As soon as the student comes to the first lectures on business computer science, he, as a rule, finds himself in an awkward position. The whole point is that this direction is treated more like an economic education. In fact, everything is somewhat different.

From the first lectures of children waiting for the first year are many purely mathematical disciplines. Here, and mathematical analysis, and discrete mathematics, and computer science, and the history of computer technology. A person who is not ready for the fact that business informatics is a specialty unexplored, can simply wonder where so much mathematics comes from. But this does not end there.

Further, in the same first year, students begin to teach a lot of information subjects, as well as teach programming. This also includes the fact that foreign languages (especially English) will begin to teach under the guise of "business conversational." In fact, students will always have to translate texts, retell them and talk with the teacher on the topic: "Whom I want to work." From the school level, "not far" left. Of course, independent work is important here . Business information technology takes a lot of students from the number of lectures delivered per day, which practically leaves no time for rest. Therefore, during the lessons, the student must work independently (as happens in most cases) to understand what is "happening" around him.

A separate place is devoted to computer science and programming. Here, the entire history of the development of these disciplines is studied, after which different databases, tasks on compiling and using programs, and so on appear. But, unfortunately, programming is not taught at the proper level. A good study of this area requires at least 4 years of full-time work. Business Informatics is the direction that students fill with different subjects. And what about the economy and the humanities that promised so? Let's see what else the guys will have to learn.

Some humanities

Having enrolled in the specialty that we are currently engaged in, the student believes that he will receive a prestigious elite education, and that economic sciences will be studied. From the first course, there is some disappointment for those who chose the faculty of Business Informatics. Who to work with, if they are taught only to mathematical disciplines, is a matter of questions. A little later, training begins to "slide" toward the economy.

Here there is macro- and microeconomics, financial mathematics, life safety protection, psychology, economic theory, 1C-enterprise and so on. Mathematics, after studying differential directions and the general theory of systems with probability theory, slowly goes to the background. Students will also be given the opportunity to study management and marketing. Gradually, business computer science is beginning to push back computer science. Approximately to the 3 course, she will leave the exhausted students altogether.

So, without really studying mathematics and information technology, the guys jump on the economy. Here is such an incomprehensible business-informatics specialty. "Who will work after the release?" - the teacher can ask a question to freshmen and sophomores in any economic specialty. And students only make a helpless gesture. Indeed, what to do after receiving a diploma?

Would be a mathematician, but ...

Naturally, a mathematician! How could this not immediately occur to me. To retire for 5 years in a new direction, which, according to the rectors, prepares the elite, then to work at school as a math teacher? Well, an option. True, too expensive. Training per year in this direction varies from 100 to 200 thousand rubles, depending on the geographical location. So, if you want to work as a math teacher, go for something more "narrow".

In addition, the proper level of mathematical knowledge is not supported here. Full mathematics, namely mathematical analysis and differential equations are taught only one year. The rest of the mathematical disciplines pass through the minds of students for one semester, which does not give proper knowledge. Although you can hear a lot of feedback and talk about the fact that business computer science is a specialty demanded and elite. This opinion is usually expressed by parents and those who have not studied in this area.

I would be a programmer ...

Well, mathematics has receded into the background. What else is taught? Informatics and programming! Exactly! If you do not know who to work for, you can go into the IT sphere, as the rectors promise to many students. As soon as students get such an idea, their dreams immediately collapse - only two years of programming and one year of computer science. Oh, how much knowledge they will give!

In order to become a full-fledged programmer, it is necessary to study the subject for a minimum of 4 years, daily and constantly. On computer science you can say the same thing. Nevertheless, universities "advertise" business computer science as a specialty, after which graduates can work where they want. In practice, the situation is different. Promises and ideas about the elitism of this specialty are broken down. Those who have already studied for a while often refer to business information technology as "nonspeciality". But why? After all, since with mathematics and programming "not grown together", there is also an economy!

"Underemployment"

And yet, what will be the future work? Business informatics includes quite a few economic disciplines after studying mathematical. But things are even worse here. The thing is that the economy also needs to "tightly" engage in order to achieve a good result. And in this direction they teach "only a little bit". A piece is torn away from mathematics, another part is from programming, the rest is from the economy.

And chaos begins to reign in my head. A little knowledge of personnel management, psychology, mathematics, programming, economics, marketing and so on ... What happens? It turns out that no subject is fully taught. In the labor market there are already a lot of narrower specialists who have far less superficial knowledge that they give on business computer science. It turns out that the promised salaries of 35,000 rubles - this is just a fairy tale for the ignorant. Naturally, there is a chance that you will work, as you promise, in the field of IT technologies in business, but it will be possible to do only "by acquaintance" and "not by profession". What is left for a business computer scientist? Who will work after the release?

A hard life

As already mentioned, the graduate expects a huge competition in the labor market, and not the golden mountains that promise so. Person who graduated from the Faculty of Business Informatics, will in fact be difficult. But what is to be done?

All that remains is the popular areas of work. For example, a manager or a sales consultant. It is here that students and graduates of business informatics usually work. They will not be able to claim for "elite" places, since the high-profile name of the direction implies that the guys take "from everywhere in a little bit". Not the best option. Also, students can work as operators in call centers and different office workers. So, in the end, the guys are waiting for a huge disappointment, especially if they are trained on a fee basis.

There is a replacement

What do those who want to work in the specialty and not be missed from around a bit? There is such a direction as information management. This, in fact, the same business computer science, only it sounds less "prestigious", and even more economical disciplines are being studied there.

So, enrolling in information management, a student becomes a full-fledged economist who is able to compete in the labor market. Yes, the likelihood that he will start earning 50 thousand a month and not doing anything at all, practically comes to naught. However, his 25 000 rubles for work on the specialty graduate will be guaranteed. Those who have finished their studies in business computer science, sometimes even practice as cashiers, sales managers and consultants. It turns out that business computer science - a specialty is quite deceptive, altered from the other, to "pull out money" from students and their parents. However, there are a lot of such examples.
