Yellow discharge without smell. Should I panic?

It's no secret that secretions from the genitals are familiar to every woman and girl. And even very young girls, they also happen, often causing concern to parents. It can not be said that the secretions are always only transparent without the inclusion of small lumps and complete absence of odor. Sometimes they are white, and sometimes they acquire a yellowish and even brown tinge. Virtually all women tend to have increased attention to what is happening in their bodies and, of course, the yellow discharge from the vagina can not go unnoticed. Is it worth it to sound an alarm or is it quite normal? Such issues are discussed quite often and the opinions of women are often polar opposites. So, let's try to find out the essence of the problem objectively.

First, even if the yellow discharge is odorless, then in any case it is worth notifying the gynecologist, who will decide whether to take a smear to exclude the possibility of having various inflammatory processes that often go unnoticed.
However, in the first place, you should be alerted to the presence of smell. It is usually characterized by women as the smell of fish, onions, etc. Of course, there is little that is pleasant, to put it mildly, but the body thus signals the need to take measures.
However, yellow secretions without a smell, which women notice not immediately, can also serve as an alarm signal. First, we list the cases when it is considered normal:

- During ovulation, when the so-called "yellow body" comes out .
- At the very beginning of the month (or after their end). In this case, yellow discharge without odor is simply a small inclusions of blood clots.
- During pregnancy and during breastfeeding, the color of discharge may also change. All this is due to the restructuring of the hormonal background of a woman during this period.
- In addition, against the background of taking oral contraceptives, which also contain a small dose of hormones, there may be a discoloration of the discharge.

These are the main reasons, however, it is necessary to pay close attention to others - the so-called accompanying factors. Once you feel itching, discomfort, burning, accompanied by a discoloration of the discharge, you should immediately contact a gynecologist to exclude inflammation, for example, inflammation of the ovaries, appendages and even erosion of the cervix.

There is also one more case when yellow discharge without odor is considered the norm. Within a few hours after unprotected intercourse (in case of ejaculation in a woman's vagina), the discharge also changes color. This is a natural reaction to male sperm, which also changes the vaginal microflora. But in such cases they manifest themselves maximum 10-12 hours after sexual contact.

So, do not panic in advance, but in any case it is better to tell the gynecologist what concerns you. In addition to possible tests to accurately diagnose your condition, the doctor will help you choose suitable oral contraceptives and check the hormonal background.
