The hero of our narration has absorbed 24 "extraneous" personalities, his name is Billy Milligan. The pictures of the criminal, whose guilt had not been proved, were no less public than his story itself. Why? Rooted in childhood

Milligan was born in 1955 in Miami Beach. His family - the most ordinary people who moved from rural areas and settled in Florida. Billy Milligan was an average child in the family. Before him, Jimbo's son was born to his parents, and then - daughter Katie Joe.

Specialists who later deal with the Milligan case first of all sought confirmation of his criminal inclinations in childhood - when the child formed the first life stereotypes. Exploring the early years, we can say that Billy Milligan did not grow up in a full-fledged, happy family. His mother was afraid, living with Billy's father. Before the new boyfriend, the mother returned to the old men, desperately looking for support in the partner. At the same time, there were always growing children next to her. His stepfather was middle-aged: his daughter Chalma was almost the same age as Billy.

Soon, the mother officially formalized the relationship with this man, and Billy started a black band in his life . Chalmer was a pervert. When the stepson was 8 years old, he tied him in a barn and abused him cruelly. Billy confessed to rape, against his stepfather started the case. Against the background of general stress, the first personality of Billy Milligan began to appear.

Life on

At first he did not attach much importance to this, but he realized that something strange was happening to him. For robbing a pharmacy, which is more likely a teenage-hooligan motive, he was imprisoned and soon released. In the same year, he raped three women, using weapons. At least, that was the charge.

The first thing the criminal was sent to the examination. Billy Milligan's personalities included the stiff British Arthur, manipulator-fraudster Allen, a communist from Yugoslavia, a young unbridled lesbian whose hands were raped. This, of course, is not a complete list of alter-images. It is known that they all could be in a relationship, sometimes suppressing those who were weaker. In the course of the study, the specialists had no doubts: a split personality arose from the moment of abuse by the stepfather.

In 1978, an incredible event in history caused a public outcry, the main character of which was the American Billy Milligan. The pictures of this strange man attracted attention no more than his main (and all secondary) personalities. To the surprise, they created incredible artistic images, still lifes and landscapes. Who exactly became the author of a separate picture, history is silent. But one thing is clear: Milligan himself had an undeniable talent.

For ten years Billy undergoes intensive treatment, moving from one medical institution to another. In 1988 he was recognized as "whole". This meant that all of the charges were dropped from his basic personality, and he himself was released. He moved to California, opened a private film studio, intending to make a film. Since none of his relatives wanted to deal with him, he was sent to a hospice for the elderly, where he died in 2014.

Undoubtedly, the psychological trauma from childhood caused a huge damage to Billy's health.
