When a cult product appears in the world, whether it's a book or a movie, many parodies follow after it. Some of them are completely mediocre, others are worthy of the viewer's attention. In this article we will tell you about the parody of the famous "Harry Potter".

"Barry Trotter" is a parody of a series of books about Harry Potter. The author not only outplayed the plot of the book, but also made the name of the main character consonant. Currently, the series includes three books, the first of which is called "Barry Trotter and unscrupulous parody."

Wordplay

The parody of "Barry Trotter" is built more on the play of words. For example, the name of the protagonist "Barry" translates as "cool", and his name - "pork legs." The school itself, in which Harry studied, evolved from Hogwarts to Hrygwarts, which in literal translation means "slop". But the name of the director Alpus Dolbimdur means "loser". Followers of the main villain call themselves earthy. Allegedly they were forced to eat land as a sign of devotion.

Of course, almost all fans of the famous fairy tale do not like this fanfic. But it is worth noting that the author wanted to either joke or make money selling books. Or both. In any case, Barry Trotter and Harry Potter are two completely different works. And the parody clearly does not reach the original neither an idea, nor a plot.

The book about Barry Trotter and the film

Because of his fame, Barry could study at school as much as he wanted. From childhood, he had a scar on his forehead in the form of exclamation and question marks. But everything changes when the journalist Rolins (in tune with the surname Rowling) begins to write articles about the imminent release of the film about Barry Trotter. The novel itself reaches the point of absurdity, when Barry Trotter and Lord Votobormoth fall into various comic situations.

At the end of the book, the school explodes, its fragments are sold to the fans of the film, and a new school is being built on the proceeds, but in a modern form. Barry's friend becomes his wife, and Lon Vlezli - the new principal of the school. At the end of the book, everything is set up as if it was written by Barry Trotter himself. The second book contains a small reference to the popular TV series "Doctor Who."

Only the first two books were translated into Russian. The third book "Barry Trotter and the dead horse" because of the low popularity of the first two in the Russian language has not been translated and moreover not published or sold.

In early 2002, there was information that, perhaps, the plot of the first book about Barry Trotter will be filmed, as they were interested in the producers. Probably, such a film would bring a lot of money and popularity to its author, but so far the book has not been filmed.

Charges of plagiarism

Many large publishers refused to release Michael Gerber's books about Barry Trotter. This was due primarily to their fears of being persecuted by the lawyers of writer Rowling Joan for plagiarism. As a result, the author decided to release the book at his own expense. And at the end of 2002, more than fifty thousand copies of this fanfic were sold. After a long examination by the literary critics, lawyers decided not to file a lawsuit in court for plagiarism.
