Those same oil paints that conquered the soul of the artist
Especially popular among experienced artists are oil paints: art works are often written by them to save the creation for ages. In their composition is necessarily present linseed oil - a film-forming substance based on vegetable oil.
It is important to remember that oil paints should be stored, tightly closing the lid, in dry and dark places: so they will retain their properties longer. In order to dilute too thick paint, you need to use a special solvent, turpentine or white spirit. You can apply oil paints in any way: using any brush or roller. Most often for drawing use a brush from a rigid bristle of the small size.
The optimum thickness of the paint layer is from 1 mm to 0.5 cm. It is necessary to have sufficient drawing skills, so that too thick a layer of paint does not spoil the work. A similar error will affect the longevity of the work, leading to its rapid destruction. The process of writing a picture is recommended to limit time: create until the oil paints on the canvas begin to lose their original consistency.
To avoid the formation of a dull layer on the surface, the period from the beginning of the solidification of the paints to their final solidification should be passed. Adjustments are best made after the first coat of paint has dried completely. In case the paints only dried up, but did not harden, the newly applied paint layer withered dim, because the lower layer would draw oil out of it, depriving it of the necessary binder. This can lead to the appearance of cracks and undesirable voids: simultaneous drying of the two layers will occur with different intensities.
Remember that the undeniable advantage of artistic oil paints is resistance to moisture and to various chemical interactions, so oil paints can not change their appearance for years.
