The electrocontact manometer is reliable and simple

In our time, when technology is being perfected very quickly and new and modern industrial equipment is being created, the problem of an expedient approach to numerous measurement and control instruments becomes significant. The indicating gauges are, perhaps, the oldest used measuring means, including electrocontact manometers. Despite the long enough history since their creation and the seeming simplicity, the possibilities of improving these devices and expanding their application use are not diminishing.

Principle of operation

An electrocontact manometer is an electro-mechanical contact device used to measure and control the excess and vacuum pressure of a liquid, vapor or gas. Its main difference from a mechanical manometer is the possibility of influencing pressure in a controlled environment by opening and closing contacts that activate automation circuits, alarms, and blocking devices.

The principle of its operation is very simple. The device is equipped with three arrows, each of which is connected to its contact. And the showing arrow has a link to both contacts. Thus, it can interact with any of the arrows. The arrow shows the current pressure. The remaining two are manually adjusted and correspond to the lower and upper limit of the permissible pressure. When the pressure drops to a critical level, the arrow shows a contact with the boundary, which leads to the closing of the electrical contact. As a result, the circuit corresponding to the closed group is triggered, which either signals a critical point has been reached, or it includes an automatic system that brings the pressure back to normal.

Types of instruments used

The most frequently used electrocontact manometer with a prefix. It consists of two main parts: a mechanical head and an electronic prefix. The latter operates from a standard two-phase electrical circuit with a working voltage of 220V. More reliable and accurate is the electrocontact manometer with microswitches, which are attached to additional sectors. Each of them has its own arrow on the scale. The accuracy of operation of such a device is several times higher than that of a conventional one.

Due to its simplicity and reliability, the electrocontact manometer has become widespread. They are used in communal communication chains, in food, machine building, oil refining and other enterprises. This device is able to work in aggressive environments that do not interact chemically with copper and alloys based on it. There are also explosion-proof versions of this device, allowing to register and control explosive pressure. And due to the mass use and large-scale production, the price of an electrocontact manometer is very low.
