Hydraulic separator and its role

Hydraulic separator is a device whose main purpose is to separate the heating and boiler circuits. Principle of operation

If we talk about such a concept as the principle of work, then it is quite simple. The entire heating system consists of a large and small circuit. In the case when the required volume of coolant is produced in the boiler with a suitable temperature, the liquid filling the hydraulic separator starts to move horizontally in it. As soon as the balance in the system is disturbed (for example, the faucet turns off in any of the consumers), it will start moving along a small contour, and the temperature in front of the boiler itself will rise. Automation in response will disconnect the device for security reasons. The heat carrier will move in the normal mode until its temperature drops. Cold liquid will be a signal for the system about the need to turn on the boiler again.

Modes of operation

The hydraulic separator can be operated in three basic modes. The first of them is activated in the case when the heat demand of the system corresponds to that quantity that has already been produced. In the second mode, the heating system needs less heat than has already been produced. In this case, a certain fraction of the liquid returns to the boiler through the hydraulic separator and signals to the automation about a reduction in its power or in general about a temporary shutdown. The third mode of operation is that the system requires more heat. If this happens, part of the heat carrier flow takes the pumps, and then the automation receives a signal to increase the boiler's power.

As the studies show, using the hydraulic separator allows us to increase the term of operation of the boiler by about thirty percent. First of all, this is achieved by ensuring its protection against low-temperature corrosion. In addition, the service life of the pump also increases. An important advantage is the increase in the reaction of the boiler automation to all possible conditions changes. One can not but emphasize the fact that the device allows to avoid imbalance, because the heating system becomes more stable hydraulically.
