Abandoned hospital in Yekaterinburg: address, description, history and legends

This city is the administrative, scientific, educational and cultural center of the Ural region. It has a long and interesting history, rich traditions. Interesting places in Yekaterinburg attract thousands of tourists every year. And there really is something to see here. Each era, since the foundation of the city in 1723, left its mark here. The city has more than 600 historical and architectural monuments.

But today we will tell you about the construction, which several decades ago was famous for Ekaterinburg. The city center in the thirties was adorned with a magnificent and elegant ambulance building at the same time. Even today it rises to its former place, although it is no longer a pride or a decoration of a glorious city.

Sadly enough, today's Ekaterinburg is not deprived of abandoned buildings. The city center is no exception. Some architectural objects were in desolation. However, the abandoned hospital in Yekaterinburg, whose address: st. March 8, 78, is the most popular object among urban stalkers, extreme and photographers. In their opinion, this is how the zone of alienation after the technogenic catastrophe should look like.

That is why many young residents represent interesting places of the city, starting from this monument of architecture, which is located where the street of March 8 intersects with the street. Bolshakova. For its short history this building has found its own secrets and legends, which we will tell you about today.

History of the hospital

The building of the hospital appeared in the city in 1932. It was erected on the design of architects IA. Yugova, N.I. Zhamanov and G.A. Golubeva. It successfully combined the characteristic elements of neoclassicism and avant-garde. Initially, the building was planned to be designed in the style of the avant-garde, but at that time this style was recognized as an "artless" art, therefore some elements of neoclassicism were added to the project - pilasters, columns, moldings. The hospital was built as a hospital of the NKVD. In the neighborhood with it, at the same time, a residential area was erected (existing today) for the employees of the prosecutor's office and other law enforcement agencies.

In 1939 the hospital received the status of a civilian facility, and in 1943 it was already called the Central Clinical Hospital. In 1959, it was combined with a polyclinic service. In 1973, the hospital was renamed again, calling it the City Clinical Emergency Hospital. From that moment, all services and units were transferred to the round-the-clock mode of operation.

On the basis of the hospital complex there were seven centers of regional importance:

  • toxicological;
  • Cardiological;
  • On the treatment of eye injuries;
  • vascular;
  • Microsurgery of blood vessels;
  • Treatment of acute arthritis;
  • Burn.

An abandoned hospital in the Green Grove is located almost in the heart of the city. It occupies most of the block. Its borders are 8 March and Bolshakov Street.

Failed Reconstruction

By early 2000, the hospital needed major repairs, so in September the commission of the Sverdlovsk Ministry of Health decided to start repair work. In fact, this meant the disbanding of the hospital - many branches were transferred to other clinics in the city, in which they often lost their independence. The final disbandment of the hospital was due to be completed by November 7.

Protests of physicians

The collective of doctors was categorically against such a method of building reconstruction. First of all, the doctors did not want to lose the high level and unique status of the institution, which were achieved by the team for many years. In addition, part of the equipment could not be dismantled to transport it to a new location.

As a result, part of the medical staff was reduced, many were dismissed at will, unable to withstand the pressure of the authorities. The doctors told us that part of the doctors continued to receive patients, even when the building was completely shut down heating.

The most tragic episode in the history of the hospital of that period was the suicide of Boris Zakharov, head of the hemodialysis department. The sixty-year-old doctor hanged himself on the window of his office. This happened a month after the official closure of the hospital. According to colleagues, he made this desperate step of experiencing the lives of patients who were doomed to a painful death (the queue for hemodialysis was huge).

The future of the hospital

It was planned that the renovation of the building will take five years, and in the first year and a half the largest branch of the hospital - the vascular one - should return to its former place. In fact, the repair did not start at all. Work on conservation was not even carried out. There were several fires in the hospital. The equipment remaining in the buildings was destroyed by fire.

Later, the position of the leadership of the Gorzdrav Ekaterinburg was announced: the city does not need an ambulance clinic, it is more effective to deliver critical patients to hospitals located near the place of call. Remote hospitalization allegedly aggravates the patient's condition.

Change of ownership

The abandoned hospital in Yekaterinburg in 2001 by the City Administration's Health Department was transferred to the balance of the military hospital N 354, which was located nearby, on the territory of the famous Novo-Tikhvin monastery. When the monastery was returned to the ROC, the hospital was constantly threatened with eviction. Part of the building of the hospital at that time was intended for demolition, and a part could still be used for its intended purpose.

However, the military did not repair the building due to lack of funds for such extensive construction work. Therefore, since 2000, an abandoned hospital in Yekaterinburg is open, it was chosen by informal people, homeless people, photographers like to make unusual shots here. In the courtyard of the hospital there is an interesting object - someone considers it a non-working fountain, and someone - a ventilation outlet.

Legends

As a rule, interesting places in Yekaterinburg are associated with some secrets and legends. And this is not surprising: the age of some objects is estimated for centuries. Surprisingly, the secrets and mysterious stories are still famous for a relatively young by historical standards abandoned hospital in the Green Grove (Yekaterinburg). Legends, one more mysteriously different, are passed from mouth to mouth and stir up interest in this once beautiful building.

Local residents say that when the hospital was working, sick people who had lost their minds after seeing it in Chernobyl were brought to it. In the basement there is a cage in which ostensibly and settled especially riotous patients. There is no documentary evidence of this legend.

Legend of the white man

According to the current inhabitants of the hospital, if you really want to explore the building, then before the start of an unusual excursion, you should look into the windows of the hemodialysis department. If you suddenly notice some obscure silhouette, then go home - on this day the visit does not bode well.

Once a girl, whose name is silent, went alone to explore a mysterious hospital. After two days, her family appealed to the police with a statement about the loss. One of the friends remembered that she was interested in an abandoned hospital in Yekaterinburg.

The search squad, created from four policemen, went around all the floors, but they could not find the missing girl, and then they decided to bypass the basement. Wandering through the dungeons among rotten pipes, expired medications, rescuers found a women's jacket in some zakutka. Searched all around, they were already going to leave the mysterious place, but at that moment a flashlight beam lit up in the darkness a small, squeezed figure in a lump.

What happened to the girl?

The missing girl sat on the floor, squeezed tight against the wall. The poor thing was so frightened that she could not say a word. After a day spent in the hospital, the poor fellow came to himself and told about his misadventures. Remembering the warning, she glanced out the window, but when she saw an unclear shadow, she decided that she was the same researcher as she, and entered the hemodialysis department.

In the office of the head of the back to the entrance stood a tall man in white robes. After the girl quietly called him, the stranger turned around and began to move slowly towards her, holding out a long hand. Unhappy was panic. She rushed back, but her legs did not obey her, tears stung her eyes, not understanding how, she was in the basement. At some point, she caught on a jacket for a piece of sticking armature. The girl threw it off and rushed into the dark corridor, finally losing orientation in space.

At that moment a mysterious figure in white appeared around the corner and continued the pursuit. Going close to the fugitive, the creature in white stretched out his hand, and the girl at that moment lost her senses. The last thing she remembered was a sharp pain, piercing her like a red-hot gland in the kidneys. She did not know how long she was unconscious, how she ended up at the basement, she did not remember how the rescuers found her.

Here it is necessary to supplement the story with an important detail: before visiting the hospital, the girl had serious blood problems. From meeting with a mysterious stranger she had on her back a hideous scar in the form of a palm with disproportionately long fingers. But the main thing was discovered when the results of her analyzes were obtained. All blood counts were perfect. The ghost "gave her" not only a scar, but also pure healthy blood.

Cellars of the building

The abandoned hospital in Yekaterinburg, like a magnet, draws to itself all the lovers of the mysterious and unexplored. Once two guys decided to explore an unusual building, about which in the city there were many different rumors. Toward the campaign, they prepared thoroughly, setting a goal to examine all the floors, including underground. And this is not accidental.

They were interested, among other things, by the dungeons with which the abandoned hospital in Yekaterinburg (the Green Grove) was famous . The morgue, in the opinion of the lovers of mysticism, supposedly continued to be used, and there were some incredible things happening in it. Looking ahead, we will say that all this is fiction. The morgue was thrown together with the hospital and later destroyed, it could not be used, since the building was disconnected from all communications.

"Time Room"

On the second floor, young people found a room that was not on the hospital's plan. At first they did not see anything interesting in it. But having torn off the half-decayed fabric from the wall, they saw at first glance the usual mechanical wall clock, more precisely, three dials. Of course, they were old and in theory they should have stopped long ago, but they continued to tick.

The guys in a daze watched the amazing mechanisms until one of the friends said that he wanted to go ahead, and his friend decided to stay with the clock for a while longer. After a few minutes and he went to the door of the room. On the threshold he collided with his friend, who was frightened and discouraged. According to him, he was looking for his friend for three days.

Leaving the room with the clock, he walked a little along the corridor, then called a friend, but when he did not respond, returned to the room and was surprised to find that she was empty. He searched all around, repeatedly tried to call a friend on his mobile phone. Then he decided that a friend just joked with him not very well, and went home, hoping to meet him there.

It turned out that the missing house was not being announced. Having calmed the relatives, the young man went back to the hospital to continue his search. Only on the third day, a hundredth, or maybe a thousand times, looking into the ill-fated room, he found a missing comrade who was coming to meet him as if nothing had happened. When the guys checked the phones on the watch and date, it turned out that they differ for three days. While one of the guys stayed in the room for three minutes, for another they turned into three days. After that, they repeatedly tried to find this room, but they could not do it.

Hospital in our days

Deputies of the City Council of Yekaterinburg in 2010 began the process of exchange with the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The city pays most of the forest park from the City Clinical Hospital No. 24 (Patrice Lumumba Street) for the construction of a military hospital in exchange for rights to the territory under an abandoned hospital.

Today, the status of the building, as well as its further prospects are not yet defined. Undoubtedly, the building is an architectural monument, but its restoration and adaptation to modern realities will be very expensive for the city treasury. In November 2016, an abandoned hospital was put up for auction with a starting price of four hundred million rubles, but no single application for a purchase was filed.
