Common infectious diseases of the nose
Infectious diseases of the nose are often not limited to the nasal cavity alone. They include diseases of the paranasal sinuses and other organs that enter this part of the body. The most widespread disease of the nose, like acute rhinitis. This pathology provides an inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nasal cavity. And it occurs in both adults and children.
At any person in a nasal cavity under normal conditions there is a huge quantity of microorganisms which at any moment can start to exert the destructive influence on an organism. If human immunity is weakened for one reason or another, it gives microbes an opportunity to live and reproduce without hindrance. Therefore, the most vulnerable to acute rhinitis are those people whose immune system suffers from ailments, temperature changes and other factors.
Such diseases of the nose, as rhinitis, usually appear in the form of successive successive stages. The disease begins with the appearance of a feeling of general ailment, unpleasant sensations in the nasal cavity (burning, tickling). After three or four days, rhinitis passes into the next stage, which is characterized by the release of mucus from the nose, which because of its composition can have an irritant effect on the skin. At the same time there are changes in the mucous membrane of the nose, which speak of its inflammation. They are manifested in redness, puffiness, painful sensations. The edema of the mucous membrane leads to the fact that the nasal passage becomes narrower, which makes breathing more difficult.
The third stage of rhinitis is different in that the nature of the discharge from the nose becomes mucopurulent. This is due to the fact that in the nasal cavity the bodies of deceased leukocytes and dead cells of the epithelium begin to accumulate, which together with the mucus form pus. In the following, most of the manifestations of this disease of the nose are weakened, and in two weeks usually there comes a complete recovery.
Diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses are not limited to the two listed ailments, but these pathologies are the most common among the population. Other diseases in this part of the body have similar causes and clinical manifestations.
