Beetle: description, stages of development, what is dangerous and how it can be deduced

Surprisingly, many people have never heard of one of the most common and dangerous pests - the beetle. This small and very unpleasant insect lives in many houses, spoils food and furniture, but the owners of the dwelling do not even guess who is causing them so much trouble. So, get acquainted - beetle kozheed. How to get rid of this pest, how dangerous it is and how to find it in your home - this is the theme of today's article.

Who is he

If you have met at least once in your apartment a small black or brown bug, and even more than one, you should definitely read this article. It is likely that a beetle has settled in your house. If you hear its name, you decided that this small insect eats only the skin, then you are very much mistaken. Unfortunately, for these nasty insects there are very few inedible things. Glue, cloth, cardboard, food products - this is not a complete list of "yummies", who will gladly try on the tooth such bugs. With the same success they do not disdain products made of wood, plastic and even concrete. Therefore, if you suddenly found such a "little animal" at home - it should be urgently disposed of.

Types of kozheedov

Beetle bug is a common name for a large number of species of this insect. Let's look at some of them:

  • Carpet beetle. This is the name of a whole group of pests, which includes another 3-4 subspecies. These are small (2-4 mm) brown beetles, which can only eat the smallest pieces of organic debris - pieces of cat hair, small crumbs, scales of human skin and so on. It is noteworthy that such a beetle eats only at the stage of the larva, and adult individuals consume the subcutaneous fat that they accumulated at the initial stages of their development.
  • The ham eel. These bugs are most common on the Eurasian continent. The insect very quickly and easily penetrates into the dwelling and instantly lays a large number of larvae. In appearance it is a small black oblong bug with a yellowish-gray coloration on a part of both wings.
  • Fur Coatman. Black, has five white dots on the back. Despite its name, this bug does not eat fur coats and other things. It is attracted exclusively to food products. Perhaps, this is the most harmless kind of kozheed.
  • House and museum. Most often, such insects are planted and multiply in flowers and stuffed animals. In homes and apartments, despite the name, are extremely rare.
  • Kozheed Smirnova. A brown beetle measuring no more than 3 mm. Most often lives on window sills and in window frames.
  • Kozheed Frisha. As well as the house (museum), this little black bug is almost impossible to meet in the apartments.

Where do they come from?

The beetle bug penetrates into the human dwelling in various ways: through open windows, with flowers and furniture, clothes and shoes, which for some time was in an infected room. They get into the house easily and imperceptibly, for a while you will not even know about the new "neighbors". But getting rid of them sometimes is very difficult, in particularly neglected cases, you may even need the help of specialists.

Development and reproduction

To understand how long it can take to fight these pests, let's look at the development stages of the kozheed beetle. Females can lay their larvae anywhere: on the surface of various materials, in crevices of the floor and walls, in furniture and so on.

Depending on the temperature in the room, the period of birth of a new population can be from two to fifty days. The drier and warmer the room, the faster the process. Each female during its lifetime is able to lay aside about a hundred eggs, and in conditions of temperature-humidity regime of the apartment, beetles can give 4-5 progenies a year.

The larva of the Kozheeda beetle molts 6-7 times with a break of 5-9 days, and before the pupation stage it can gnaw long (up to 10 cm) strokes even in those materials that are not used for eating. Thus, it is the larvae that cause the most damage to the room and people.

What harm can the beetles do?

So, you got a bug beetle. What is the danger of such a "neighbor" and how to get rid of it? First of all, kozheedy destroy all things made from materials of animal origin: down, leather, fur, felt, silk, wool and others. They also like to chew and eat food: dried and jerky meat and fish, cheese, milk and cereals. Further they will not disdain books, especially the old ones. In their bindings is glue, which they also very "respect."

In particularly neglected cases, dermatologists can damage wires and cables, for example from a computer, gnaw furniture, especially upholstery, picture frames, "crack" wallpaper, especially natural ones, and gnaw the parquet.

Where to find a skinny in the apartment

You can find insects in the apartment in many places. Most often they nest in warm and dry places - in mattresses, sofas, in the kitchen, near heating batteries. First of all, carefully inspect the upholstery of sofas, armchairs and other upholstered furniture - to these places the kozheedy are treated with special trepidation. Sometimes it happens that the owners of housing do not pay attention to insects until one of the beetles, without calculating the flight path, does not crash directly into the forehead of the owner. Despite the fact that adults fly well, they are quite plump and do not always reach the target with success the first time.

It is very difficult to detect the pest breeding center most often. Beetle kozheed chooses such places for reproduction where it is very difficult to reach, for example, under the skirting board and in the air bubble under the wallpaper. Also, the window frames and window-sills, flower pots, plafonds and lamps with a large number of details can become a breeding ground.

Physical Remedies

There are several options for how to get the bug beetles out. First of all, you need to try to get rid of them physically, for example, handle all suspicious locations with a vacuum cleaner. Do this at least twice a day for 7-10 days. The bag for the vacuum cleaner should be carefully shaken out every time, or even better - replaced with a new one. You can also use the unit with a water filter - this will ensure that the bugs do not spread back.

In addition, all contaminated items and things need to be treated with a temperature difference - the skin-tans do not like it very much. In winter, you can take everything out onto the street or onto a balcony and leave it there for a few hours, and then bring it into a warm room. To improve the effect, the procedure must be repeated several times. Also, all problem areas can be processed with the use of a steam generator, especially such a treatment of plinths and hard-to-reach places. The procedure is also worth repeating several times.

Chemical impact

What else can you do if you are hit by such a disaster as a bug beetle in an apartment. How to get rid of this misfortune, if the previous methods did not help?

For the sake of justice it is worth noting that simple physical elimination can only help if the insects have lodged with you recently and have not yet had much time to breed. In other cases, without the use of chemicals, most likely, not to do. Here are a few recipes.

After thorough cleaning, scatter the boric acid powder in all available places, especially under the carpet and near the skirting boards. Also for these purposes the preparation "Borax" will approach.

To handle things of a small size, for example clothes, you can put them in a plastic bag together with the preparations "Executioner" or "Tetrix." These are specialized remedies that leave no stains or smells. The treatment should be carried out within 3-4 hours, after which the clothes should be washed and dried.

There are also aerosol formulations that kill both adults and larvae. Since this treatment does not damage the eggs of insects, the procedure should be repeated 2-3 times with an interval of 10-14 days. As an example of aerosol formulations, you can bring "Difox" or the good old "Dichlophos".

Also for the breeding of beetles beetles are suitable preparations for fighting moth, but it is better to use them as an additional means. It is worth remembering that antimol preparations have only a short-term effect, but at the same time they are endowed with a strong smell, which, incidentally, is not always pleasant.

10 facts about kozheedah - it is necessary to know

To effectively deal with beetles in the house or apartment, it is just necessary to know about them some details:

  1. Pests do not accept moisture at all. So regular wet cleaning with the use of a steam generator will help get rid of the misfortune once and for all.
  2. Despite the fact that the kozheed are omnivorous, the greatest interest to them is represented by things of animal origin.
  3. Adult individuals can fly around the house during the daytime, and at night hide. So you can entice them by simply turning on the light - they will fly to the light bulb. However, larvae can not be lured out in this way.
  4. Like many other insects, the kozheedy beetles spoil things only at the stage of the larvae. Adults do not do much harm (except that they reproduce).
  5. The process of turning a larva into a beetle takes 2-3 months. This means that all this time the insect will actively eat, that is, gnaw your furniture or boots.
  6. Larvae of all kinds of skinwrappers do not tolerate light. Therefore, when processing, pay special attention to the internal surfaces of cabinets, bedside tables and sofas, as well as to other places where light does not reach.
  7. The bug beetle bites are not just pretty painful. These insects can tolerate various diseases.
  8. The larvae of the kozheed are much less exposed to external influences than, for example, moth larvae. Therefore, for their destruction, some antimolar drugs are not enough.
  9. If the room is dry with a warm climate, then the larvae will develop rapidly and in large numbers. If the climate is changed to more unfavorable, then the insects will develop more slowly, but there will be much more harm from them.
  10. The larvae of the kozheed beetle never sleep, they are constantly in motion.

Preventive measures

If you manage to get rid of these small domestic pests, it is also worth taking some measures to ensure that they do not appear in your home again.

  • As often as possible, carry out a wet cleaning in the house, preferably using a household steam generator.
  • On the shelves of cabinets and bedside tables, lay out twigs of dry lavender, wormwood or funds from moths - they also do not like leather.
  • Set the windows and balcony mosquito nets - in the summer, beetles often enter the room through the window.
  • Often conduct an audit in the cabinets - without regret get rid of old and unnecessary things. Less rubbish - less beetles.
  • During preventive treatment of the premises with insecticides, do not forget to take care of your personal safety - wear a disposable gown, gloves, goggles and a respirator.

And remember, the appearance of any insects in the house is easier to prevent than to eliminate, so keep your home clean, and then no insects are terrible to him.
