The drug "Retinol acetate" instruction refers to the pharmacotherapeutic group of vitamins. The remedy helps to fill the lack of vitamin A.

Tablets and the "Retinol acetate" solution promote the activation of redox processes, take part in the normalization of metabolism, create favorable conditions for the synthesis of ATP. The drug stimulates the process of epithelization, prevents hyperkeratosis (excessive cornification of the epithelium). In addition, the agent normalizes the activity of sweat and sebaceous glands.

When administered orally, the drug is almost completely absorbed from the digestive system. Metabolism products (retinoic acid, retinal, retinol and retinyl palmitate) are distributed unevenly across organs and tissues. The highest concentration is observed in the retina and liver. A smaller amount is found in the adrenal glands, breast (lactating), lungs, fat stores, heart, kidneys.

The tool "Retinol acetate" instruction recommends for vitamin deficiency and hypovitaminosis A, infectious diseases (pneumonia, bronchitis, tracheitis, dysentery, measles). The drug is indicated for skin diseases (some forms of eczema, pyoderma, psoriasis, ichthyosis, hyperkeratosis, skin tuberculosis, wounds, frostbite, burns, degenerative and inflammatory processes). The tool "Retinol acetate" instruction recommends for ophthalmic diseases (conjunctivitis, eczematous lesions of the eyelids, keratomalacia, xerophthalmia, hemostalopia, pigment retinitis). Indications include acute respiratory diseases, malnutrition, rickets, chronic bronchopulmonary pathologies, inflammatory and erosive ulcerative lesions in the gastrointestinal tract, leukemia, epithelial tumors, liver cirrhosis, mastopathy.

The "Retinol acetate" preparation is recommended for use under the supervision of a doctor. The remedy should be taken after eating late at night or early in the morning.

With avitaminosis of medium and mild degrees, the therapeutic dosage is prescribed as follows: for adults - per day up to 33 000 IU, for pigment retinitis, xerophthalmia, hemeralopia - 50 000 - 100 000 IU. Dosage for children is set in accordance with the age from 1000 to 5000 IU per day.

When skin pathologies adults are recommended to 50 -100 thousand IU, children - from 5 to 20 thousand IU per day.

Dosage for one dose should not exceed 50 thousand IU (in adults) and 5 thousand IU (in children). In a day it is not allowed to take more than 100 thousand IU to adults and 20 thousand IU to children.

When applying the drug "Retinol acetate" in elevated dosages, there is a teratogenic effect, which persists after its withdrawal. In this connection, it is possible to plan pregnancy only six to twelve months after the end of the therapeutic course.

With the use of the drug "Retinol acetate" some negative consequences are possible. Drowsiness, fever, vomiting, lethargy, nausea, headache may occur. In some cases, there is a violation of gait, leg soreness, skin peeling. When taking elevated doses, hypervitaminosis is likely. The drug "Retinol acetate" in children can cause an increase in cerebrospinal fluid pressure (in babies can be marked protrusion of fontanel and hydrocephalus), rashes on the skin, vomiting, sweating, probably a rise in temperature. In rare cases, on the first day of therapy, spotty-papular itchy rashes may occur. This requires the cancellation of the funds.

With a decrease in dosage or a temporary withdrawal of the drug Retinol acetate, the side effects are usually eliminated on their own.

The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy (in the first trimester of gestation), with cholelithiasis, hypersensitivity, chronic pancreatitis.

The drug "Retinol acetate" (reviews of some people indicate this) can be used in veterinary medicine. Thus, the drug is effective in hyperkeratosis in animals.
