What is Suwak

This is a Greek dish, which in translation means "skewers". That is, in other words, suvlaki is a shish kebab. He is preparing in Greece exclusively from pork. In other countries, they consume chicken and very rarely - lamb.

In some restaurants, meat is prepared not in skewers, but in a frying pan, then wrap it in a cake. The peculiarity of the dish is in the marinade, and each chef's recipes are different for their originality, presentation and taste. Read on, how to cook souvlaki at home. Ingredients for souvlaki

Recipes for this dish are varied. However, we will consider two of the simplest and most original ways of cooking. In the first version you will need the following ingredients:

1. Pork - 0,5 kg.

2. Olive oil - 5 tbsp. L.

3. Garlic - 1 head (5-6 denticles).

4. Lemon - 1 pc.

5. Oregano - 7 years.

8. Thyme - 7 g.

9. Salt - to taste (pinch).

10. Sugar - 1 tsp. (optional).

The above products are needed for shish kebab souvlaki. Recipes are with other ingredients. It all depends on your preferences.

Preparation of shish kebab

In advance, prepare the wooden skewers, since it is on them that the taste of the dish depends. Meat cut into small cubes, about 3 * 3 cm. And temporarily set aside. From the whole lemon squeeze out all the juice. To get it as much as possible, apply the juicer. Now peel garlic from the peel, chop it very finely, fold it into a separate container.

In the lemon juice, add the olive oil and other ingredients that are given in the recipe. Add garlic to the last. Stir the whole mixture and let it brew for about 10 minutes.

Then cut the cut pork into a bag and pour in the infusion liquid. Now mix everything and send it to the refrigerator for 2 hours. This is to ensure that the meat is well soaked. The taste of the dish depends on the marinade.

30 minutes before cooking, take the wooden skewers and soak them in water. They will not then smoke during baking. Take the meat out of the fridge and thread on skewers.

Souvlaki is best cooked on the grill, but if there is no such option, then the oven and even a frying pan will do. Fry the meat on skewers until golden brown on both sides. Now the dish is ready for consumption, and it can be served to the table.

This is the first and easiest way to prepare. Now you can go to the second option, which is prepared longer, but the dish turns out to be more original.

Preparation of a cake

This dish is distinguished for its refinement and nutrition. For starters, a pita bread is prepared. You will need these products:

1. Flour - 2 glasses (sometimes more, it all depends on the variety).

2. Dry yeast - 7 g.

3. Salt and sugar - to 5 g.

4. Olive oil - 1 tbsp. L.

5. Water warm boiled - 1 cup (250 ml).

The cake is made quickly and easily. Pour 125 ml of water into the container and add the yeast there to dissolve. Then put a teaspoon of sugar and leave for 10 minutes. Should be a magnificent foam. In the same tank, add the rest of the water, salt, pour olive oil and, gradually adding flour, knead the dough. It should be smooth and elastic. This dough does not stick to your hands. If necessary, add a little more olive oil.

When the dough is ready, cover it with a clean towel or film and put in the heat for at least 1.5 hours. Then roll in flour and divide into small balls that need to roll out. The cake should not be thicker than 0.5 cm in thickness.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Only after that, bake the cakes for about 5 minutes. It should not burn out. When it began to appear a slightly golden hue, remove from the oven. So cook all the cakes.

Meat preparation

It is also called "gyros". That is, it is a filling for bread. First, 0.5 kg of pork should be cut into thin small strips about 4 cm and discourage them.

Fold the meat in a saucepan. In the same capacity, add 5 ml of white wine, chopped onions (1 piece), pour olive oil 10 ml (can be more). Salt to taste, add 5 g oregano, chaiber and marjoram. Place 2-3 g of coriander and chilli powder here. Marinade will taste better if you add about 5 ml of wine vinegar.

Stir marinade with meat, cover and leave aside for 2-3 hours. When the pork is brewed, pour it into a dry frying pan and fry it. You do not need to add oil. Fry the meat until cooked.

Sauce Dzadziki

Suvlaki needs seasoning. In Greece, add the sauce dzadziki. It's done simply. Take two cloves of garlic, rub on a fine grater, add in it three tablespoons of olive oil and a little salt. Let it brew for 5 minutes.

Then add 10 ml of grape vinegar to the garlic container, place the finely chopped small cucumber, pour out a glass of yogurt. Mix all the ingredients in the same container. Dzuziki sauce is ready for use.

Filling for souvlaki

We already have bread and meat. However, this dish can not be called souvlaki. We still need to prepare the filling. To do this, you will need to mix the following products (per serving):

1. French fries - 100 g.

2. Onions (medium) - 1 pc.

3. Red tomato - 1 piece.

4. Yellow tomato - 1 pc.

5. Sauce of jazziki.

That's all we need for souvlaka. Recipes are simple, but the processes, as you have already seen, are quite lengthy. But the dish turns rich, nutritious and original.

Presentation

When cooked pancakes, salad, meat, sauce and stuffing, you can proceed with the design. After all, the presentation depends on how delicious the dish looks. Arrange the prepared cake to the pita and lay out your work on it. First the sauce, then the meat, then the filling, and from the top we water again the jazziki. We wrap the envelope with a cake.
