Single-pipe heating system of a two-story house: a scheme without a pump and with a pump, reviews, photos

The heating system with one main line is used in private and multi-storey buildings very often. It is not a very complicated, very effective, yet sufficiently repairable design. In this article in detail we will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of such systems with respect to two-story country houses. Also we will understand with what there are variants and schemes of connection of single-tube structures in buildings of this type.

Main advantages and disadvantages

From two-tube systems such systems differ primarily in that the coolant in them circulates in a circle, and the radiators are connected in series. Thus, the equipment is very simple - single-pipe heating system of a two-story house. With your own hands it is much easier to assemble a two-tube.

To advantages of such systems, besides this, it is possible to carry also:

  • Repairability.
  • Versatility. Use of such systems is possible in both small- and multi-storey buildings.

The main disadvantage of such systems is, first of all, uneven heating of the radiators connected in series. Passing from one to the other, the coolant gradually cools. Because of this, in the rooms close to the boiler can be too hot, and in the furthest from it - it's cold.

Varieties

As a coolant in heating systems of this type, antifreeze liquid can be used. But most often ordinary water circulates through the pipes. Moving through the pipes, it can be due to gravity or through the operation of a special pump. In both cases, a reliable single-tube system of a two-story house is obtained. The scheme of the first type is usually used in not too large houses. The advantages of such a system with gravitational circulation include, first of all, economy. Constructions with the forced movement of water or antifreeze are more reliable.

Also, the single-tube heating system of a two-story house, the scheme of which is as simple as possible, is horizontal or vertical. The latter type is well known to all who have ever lived in Soviet-built high-rise buildings. In this case vertical risers are carried out on all floors. The heat carrier is pumped to the attic, and then goes down, passing through the radiators of the apartments. In private low-rise buildings, a simpler horizontal heating system is usually used, also called "Leningrad".

Battery Connections

Batteries in such a design as a single-tube heating system of a two-story house (a photo of such equipment is clearly demonstrated on the page), can crash into any of the currently available technologies. Connection scheme can be:

  • Lower. In this case, the pipes "supply" and "return" are connected to the battery from below.
  • The diagonal. With this arrangement, the pipes are connected to the radiator from above and from below on opposite sides.
  • Vertical. In this case, the trunk is connected from above and from below on one side.

In order for the air to warm evenly in the distant and near the boiler rooms evenly, connect the radiators to the pipe, usually on the bypass. This creates a simplified analog of the two-pipe system. If there is a bypass, it is easy to adjust the volume of the flow passing through the radiator.

The basic rules of assembly in two-story buildings

For a private house, as already mentioned, it is better to use a horizontal version of a single-pipe system. The most difficult thing in assembling in a two-story house is to lift the water upward, through the ceiling. The simplest method is to install two risers at the boiler: one supply coolant to the radiators, the second - "reverse". Thus, both forced circulation equipment and a single-tube heating system of a two-story house can be installed . Scheme without pump, however, in this case - the option is less preferable.

Methods of laying pipes

On the perimeter of the mainline house in such a system, both on the ground floor and on the second one are usually held under the floor. This "hidden" system does not spoil the appearance of the premises. However, it should be borne in mind that with this laying, it is likely that the lower method of connecting the radiators will have to be used. And with this method of inserting, unfortunately, the batteries do not work at full strength. The output can be the use of a special design bypass.

In this case, on the "supply" pipe, a metal-plastic section of length equal to the height of the battery cuts in front of the radiator. The connection to the main line is made through it, at the top of the section. A short vertical segment is welded to the "reverse" pipe. The radiator joins it at the lowest point of the opposite section.

Single-pipe heating system of a two-story house with natural circulation: features

Such constructions are used in cottages rather rarely. Systems of this type are economical, but, unfortunately, are rather complicated in assembly and not very convenient to use, especially if there are two floors in the house.

The heat carrier in such systems first rises from the boiler to the top, passes through the radiators of the upper rooms, and then descends. Therefore, on the second floor, using a circuit of this type will be hotter than the first. In addition, when using a system with gravitational circulation, it is necessary to install a very powerful boiler. After all, the pressure of the coolant should be sufficient to lift it to the second floor.

System with forced circulation

Equipment of this type for two-story cottages is considered preferable. In this case, the circulation pump is responsible for the uninterrupted flow of coolants along the mains. In such systems it is allowed to use pipes of smaller diameter and a boiler of not too high power. That is, in this case, a much more efficient single-pipe heating system of a two-story house can be arranged. The scheme with the pump has only one serious drawback - dependence on electrical networks. Therefore, where it is very often switched off the current, it is worthwhile to perform the installation of the equipment according to calculations made for a system with a natural coolant flow. By supplementing this design with a circulation pump, it is possible to achieve the most effective heating of the house.

Reviews about single-pipe systems

The opinion of the owners of country houses about this type of equipment is very good. Single-pipe systems are completely reliable and operate quite efficiently. Their main drawback - uneven heating of the room can be easily eliminated by additional methods. It can be, for example, a different way of connecting radiators in the near and far from the boiler rooms, using a different number of sections, etc.

In general, according to the owners of suburban areas, the equipment is quite reliable and convenient - one-pipe heating system of a two-story house. Reviews of such designs allow you to judge them as very practical and at the same time inexpensive.

Mounting order

The one-pipe system is assembled as follows:

  • In the utility room is installed on the floor or hung on the wall of the boiler. With the help of gas equipment, the most reliable and efficient single-pipe heating system of a two-story house can be arranged. The connection scheme in this case will be standard and will allow to perform all the work, if desired, even independently.
  • The walls are hung radiators.
  • At the next stage, the risers "supply" and "return" to the second floor are mounted. They are located in the immediate vicinity of the boiler. Below to the risers joins the contour of the first floor, at the top - the second.
  • Then connect to the mains of the batteries. For each radiator, a shut-off valve (on the bypass supply line) and a Maevsky crane should be installed .
  • In the immediate vicinity of the boiler, an expansion tank is mounted on the "back" pipe.
  • Also, on the "reverse" pipe near the boiler on the bypass with three valves a circulation pump is connected. Before it, a special filter cuts into the bypass.

At the final stage, the system is crimped to identify equipment and leaks.

As you can see, the one-pipe heating system of a two-story house, the scheme of which is as simple as possible, can very convenient and practical equipment. However, if you want to use such a simple design, at the first stage it is important to make all the necessary calculations with maximum accuracy.
