Helicopter plant (Kazan): history, description, photo, address

PJSC Kazan Helicopter Plant (Kazan) is one of the key enterprises of the holding company Helicopters of Russia. The products of this enterprise constitute an essential part of its supply. In addition, the KVZ developed and brought to serial production a new type of machine - an easy Ansat helicopter.

Historical reference

The history of the enterprise is inextricably linked with the Leningrad aviation plant No. 387. With the outbreak of the war, it was evacuated to Kazan. Helicopter factory was reorganized in 1951, when the first in the USSR rotorcraft Mi-1 were established in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. Since 1954, they produced Mi-4, and since 1965 - the legendary Mi-8.

The helicopter factory (Kazan) in 1970 became an award-winning one - for the successes achieved earlier and the development of the unique Mi-14 amphibious helicopter, the collective was awarded the Order of the October Revolution. In 1980, the company was awarded the "Golden Mercury" prize.

New era

The beginning of the 90's (the time of the collapse of the USSR) became difficult for the plant. The process of corporatization, the shortage of working capital, the loss of part of the sales market could lead to a halt in production. However, the team's co-ordination, the talent of designers and managers helped to overcome the crisis. It was during this period that the first stage of technical rearmament began. The acquisition of imported metal-cutting equipment has made it possible to improve the accuracy of machining of parts and to collect designs with complex geometries.

In 1993 the helicopter plant (Kazan) began designing a multi-profile light helicopter "Ansat". By the way, this was the only case of development of a new uninhabited model of an aircraft in the 90's. Kazanians ventured, put on the authority of the enterprise and brought the project to mass production. Today, Ansat is the only Russian helicopter of this class.

Production

In full arms met the 2000th helicopter factory. Kazan has become one of the world's leading centers for the production of rotorcraft of various types. Here, models of civil, service and military purposes are collected:

  • Multipurpose Mi-17 helicopter of middle class.
  • Its modifications are Mi-171V (specialized, medical, etc.).
  • Mi-17V5 (transport, rescue).
  • Mi-172 (passenger).
  • Ansat.
  • Multi-purpose Mi-38 middle class.

Pride of the enterprise

Yet the factory workers' favorite creation is their original development - the Ansat helicopter of light class. For more than a decade, the polishing of his appearance was underway, numerous consultations were held with the responsible departments and potential consumers. If in the 90's the country did not have enough funds to purchase new samples of high-tech avionics, then in the mid-2000 there was progress.

In 2005 Kazan Helicopter Plant at MAKS presented a prototype of the maneuverable combat light helicopter "Ansat-2RTS". I liked the car, but the competition in the field of military equipment in Russia is high. The emphasis was on the civilian version, which is so lacking in the country. In 2013 the certification of the cargo-passenger modification with the mechanical control system took place.

Today, the Ansat program is developing in the military and civilian sectors. The training helicopter "Ansat-U" has already been acquired by the Ministry of Defense of Russia for the training of cadets of flight schools and is delivered serially under a contract. The civilian version of the helicopter was certified in stages in 2013-2015. The reason for the delays was the integrated (electro-remote) control system installed at the Ansat. It was too innovative. The helicopter factory (Kazan) was a pioneer here. At least if we take the 90th (the first prototype of Ansat was created in 1997), the Kazan people were the pioneers in the world in introducing this system.

In the world market, there are a lot of similar models (Eurocopter helicopters, for example). But the civil version of Ansat has the same competitive advantages as a Mi-8/17 helicopter. First of all, this is the price-quality ratio.

Modernization of production

The helicopter factory (Kazan), whose photo is impressive, continues to evolve. In September 2015, the KVZ opened an assembly and assembly building intended for the Mi-38, Mi-8/17 and Ansat models. It was created as part of the project to modernize the plant, which started in 2008. In the new premises, several zones for assembling fuselages of all three types were arranged. In the same place, a detailed assembly and installation of the skin, power elements, and other components of the fuselage is carried out. Thanks to the commissioning of the hull into operation, the KVZ plans to achieve greater productivity and improve quality.

Previously, assembly areas were located in two separate territories. Their unification in one building significantly reduced logistics costs. Accordingly, the time spent on assembling helicopters was reduced. The volume of production increased, the supply of finished cars to consumers accelerated.

The new hull identifies a unique sprinkler chamber, designed to test fuselages for leaks. Having a closed circuit in which water circulates, the camera is capable of simulating the rain of any force. To test one fuselage, up to 9 m 3 of water is required. The case is equipped with soundproofing, which minimizes the penetration of noise to the outside. All necessary drawings on the site are transmitted through paperless technology through computer terminals.

Geography of deliveries

Helicopters KVZ fly in more than 100 countries. This is the countries of Asia, the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, Latin America. Markets, on which Kazan technique is represented less - Western Europe, USA, Canada. Each year, depending on the number of contracts, helicopters are shipped to 4-8 countries. The share of exports in sales is about 80%.

Special hopes of the KVZ for the Ansat helicopter. The civil version is oriented to all traditional markets. This is Russia, the CIS countries, Southeast Asia, Africa, South and Latin America. Applications are submitted both by domestic commercial structures, and foreign. The first of foreign partners "Ansata" was bought by the Chinese. A separate development is military training patrol modification "Ansat-U". The Air Force has already acquired 40 units, contracts from partner countries - Belarus and Kazakhstan are expected.
