Lianozovo Dairy Plant: where is located, products, reviews

Lianozovo Dairy Plant has been operating in its market segment since 1987. An enterprise was created to provide dairy products to Moscow and the Moscow region. Over time, the plant was to become the largest industrial enterprise in the world, while profitability was not planned.

The change in the political regime, the liberalization of the economy brought new production relations and management forms to the plant at all levels. The combine did not become the largest in the world, but invariably takes the leading positions in the ratings of European countries.

Start positions

Lianozovo Dairy Plant had design capacity, which allowed to produce 2 thousand tons of products per day. Commodity assortment consisted of two types of milk (pasteurized in glass containers and in bags), sour cream, cottage cheese, kefir. The workforce numbered 1,900 people. When designing the plant it was calculated that the product range would include all the commodity items of lactic acid production, and the newest automated processing lines for raw materials would be installed.

But the long-term plans have not materialized. By the beginning of perestroika, the Lianozovo dairy plant was unprofitable, and a threat of bankruptcy and liquidation loomed over it. Privatization took place in 1992 according to the scheme: 51% of the shares went to the working group, 29% of the company's assets were privatized by the suppliers of raw materials, and 20% of the shares were distributed in favor of the Moscow government. At the time of the company's transition to the new realities of capitalist relations, the money for wages was only for 1.5 months of work, the working capital was zero. The crisis was intensified by staff turnover, many vacancies for a long time remained unoccupied.

Optimization in a crisis

Left without state support, the company's management took steps to optimize budget expenditures:

  • Dismantled production lines in glass containers (sold as scrap metal).
  • Fired 50% of the staff.
  • Social objects (school, kindergarten) were removed from the balance.
  • We have leased some production areas.

The output of finished products in 1992 was reduced to 59 thousand tons per year (in 1991 the figure was 200 thousand tons). The solvency of the population fell, the amount of raw materials supplied fell sharply, and the prices for it increased significantly. In this situation, the support of the Moscow government helped, with the assistance of which the production of dried milk was mastered.

The first steps in innovations Lianozovo Dairy Plant (LMC) undertook in the crisis years - finished products for sale were released in plastic containers, which replaced bulky wholesale metal racks. It was filled with 12 liters of milk and 9 kilograms of cottage cheese, which was convenient for owners of small-scale wholesale and catering. The export of products was carried out by the forces of buyers, system trading and marketing strategy in the company was not.

Active tenants

In 1992, two entrepreneurs (S. Plastinin, M. Dubinin) leased a line at the combine for bottling juices under the trademark "Wimm-Bill-Dann." Juices were packed in Tetra Pak paper packaging. A year later, the partners launched the production of juices and nectars from the German concentrate Doller. A competent marketing strategy and aggressive advertising campaign made the products popular among an unsophisticated Soviet consumer.

By 1994, the company acquired two regional enterprises: Ramensky and Tsaritsyn dairy plants. The first was reoriented to produce juices in cardboard packages. Lianozovo Children's Dairy Factory was also purchased.

The shares of the private company Wimm-Bill-Dann in 1994-1997 were distributed as follows:

  • V. Tambov, director of LMC and president of Wimm-Bill-Dann, owned 30% of the shares.
  • The company's founders, S. Plastinin and M. Dubinin, owned 30% of the shares.
  • 40% of shares belonged to a group headed by G. Yushvayev and D. Yakobashvili.

From the filing of V. Tambov, the logo of the company "Wimm-Bill-Dann" began to be printed on all manufactured LMC products. The purchase of shares of the Lianozovo Dairy Plant began in 1995, and in 1996, under the control of the company, three quarters of all shares of the plant's shareholders were found.

The way out of the crisis. Indicators

By 1995, the measures taken to overcome the crisis had begun to yield results. Lianozovo Dairy Plant reached the volume of output of 180 thousand tons, the following year the volume increased to 264 thousand tons. The assortment of manufactured finished products had about four dozen names. The workforce numbered more than a thousand people, whose wages, by the beginning of 1997, averaged $ 500. By the middle of the year, this figure has doubled.

Absorption

Wimm-Bill-Dann's active efforts to concentrate a large stake in LMK in its hands, as well as conflicts within the management of both companies, occurred in 1997, led to the takeover - the Lianozovo Dairy Plant was placed under the control of WBD Group.

The Moscow government, as the holder of a significant share of property in the company, supported the WBD. In 2000, the company bought the last stake in LMK from the Moscow administration. From this moment, until 2011, the full name of the company: OJSC Wimm-Bill-Dann LMC.

Production

In subsequent years and in our time, Lianozovo Dairy (Moscow) is constantly expanding the range of brands. Innovation is the basis of a successful business and the company is actively applying the strategy of renewing the range, production lines and technologies. The company was the first to launch the production of dairy products with a long shelf life, putting new lines of cardboard packaging for this.
