Krasnodar is a city located in the south of the Russian Federation 1,340 kilometers from Moscow. It is the center of the same name. Unofficially it is even called the southern capital of Russia. The city was founded in 1792 by Zaporozhye Cossacks, who moved to the Kuban after the Western Ciscaucasia became part of Russia. The fortress of Ekaterinodar was built in 1794.
