Pinching of the nerve

Pinching of the nerve is a consequence of squeezing the nerve roots leaving the spinal cord with neighboring vertebrae. You can squeeze and spasmed muscles, hernias, tumors. Pinching of the nerve in all cases is manifested by a strong shooting, stitching or burning pain.

The most common cause of the compression of the nerve root is usually the aggravation of osteochondrosis. In this case, there is a narrowing of the gap between the vertebrae and the pinching of the nerve. The aggravating factor in this case is spasmodic (hypertonic) muscle. Often because of this, the damage to the blood vessels begins. In addition to causing pain, blood circulation worsens, normal work of the brain and internal organs is disrupted. Prolonged compression of the nerve roots provokes the death of nerve tissue and a significant decrease in sensitivity in certain areas of the skin and parts of the body. In some cases (in particular, with radiculitis) inflammation of the compressed nerve occurs.

Symptoms accompanying pinching the nerve, depend directly on the site of its localization. The manifestation of the disease, its degree and causes depend on the possible inflammation.

The main manifestation of the disease is sudden (sudden) pain in the squeezing site. Severe cases (pinching of the nerve in the back, neck, sciatic nerve) can provoke spinal compression, impaired motor functions and sensitivity in the limbs. Such manifestations can cause paralysis or paresis.

Pinching of the nerve in the hand is manifested by the numbness of one or more fingers. Disturbances of motor functions in the limb may indicate the squeezing of several roots.

The compression of the vertebral nerve, in addition to the manifestation of pain, is accompanied by swelling of nearby tissues, increased sweating, reddening of the affected area.

As practice shows, treatment of the disease is not particularly difficult. The results of therapy in some cases are positive after the first session. As a therapy prescribe manual therapy, acupressure, acupuncture. Carrying out such therapeutic measures allows you to quickly eliminate muscle spasms, restore the normal position of the discs between the vertebrae, remove the pain syndrome. Mainly, the effect of treatment is directed to the release of jammed nerve endings.

In order to prevent the repeated (relapsing) manifestation of compression of the roots, complex treatment is used. It includes various methods used in Tibetan medicine (vacuum therapy, stone therapy, moxotherapy and others).

To quickly eliminate the pain syndrome when squeezing the nerve roots, you can take painkiller medication and apply dry heat to the affected area. It is recommended to lie on a flat and firm surface for a while, lifting your knees slightly.

It should be noted that before starting independent treatment, which is preferred by many people, it is necessary to understand the cause of the disease.

Nerve root compression can be triggered by excessive physical exertion, pathological and degenerative changes in bone tissues, spine traumas, postoperative scars, and developing tumors.

Only after the specific exact cause of the squeezing is identified, the optimal and most effective therapeutic course is selected.

Some severe cases suggest the appointment of an operation. However, as a rule, in most cases it is enough just to eliminate muscle tension and subluxation of the disc between vertebrae.
