Sunstroke. Symptoms and Treatment

Hot summer, outdoor recreation ... What could be better? But in the hot weather of any person in such a situation, one trouble may await - a sunstroke. Let not all have experienced this on yourself, but everyone should know about its existence and be able to behave properly in such a situation.

A sunstroke can be received by a person who has been in the sun for a long time. This is a painful state of the body from overheating under its bright scorching rays. It is especially dangerous when a person is in the sun without a headdress. Blood vessels of the brain under the influence of overheating expand, while the blood flow to the head increases. Deterioration of state of health can occur, directly during exposure to the open sun, and after a certain time (up to 6-8 hours). Sunstroke is one of the varieties, the so-called heat stroke, when the human body overheats due to insufficient cooling. Thermal shock can occur and during the execution of heavy physical work in a confined space with increased temperature.

The first signs of a heat or sun stroke are similar. This is an increasing lethargy and a feeling of fatigue, thirst and a headache. These symptoms of sunstroke are a signal that the body has overheated, and its temperature has come to a critical. The fact is that a person at a normal body temperature of about 36.7 can freely adapt in a temperature regime up to 40 degrees, but not higher. With further increase in temperature there is weakness, dizziness. A person experiences a headache, nausea, vomiting, nosebleeds and loss of consciousness may occur.

At the first suspicion that the victim has a sunstroke, treatment should begin immediately on their own. It should be taken to a shade or a cool place, to unbutton or undress to the waist, if possible, to lay, slightly raising his head. It is desirable to provide a cool compress on the head, underarms, inguinal areas where blood vessels are concentrated, wrap the body with a damp cloth or wipe with a wet sponge. Be sure to give the victim a cool drink, you can add to it a tincture of valerian (20 drops per 100 grams of water).

If breathing is impaired or unconsciousness is lost, use ammonia alcohol. Applying 2-3 drops on a cotton swab, it is necessary for 10-15 seconds to bring to the nose of the victim. In case of emergency, you should immediately seek medical help, and before the arrival of doctors, you must begin to provide first aid yourself, depending on the situation. With poor breathing or lack of it, it is necessary immediately to start making artificial respiration, the so-called artificial ventilation of the lungs, and in the absence of a pulse, an indirect heart massage.

Providing the first first aid, you should pay attention to the nature of breathing and make sure that the patency of the airways is normal. Otherwise, turning the victim on his side, clean the mouth with a cloth wound on the index finger, tighten the tongue so that it does not overlap the larynx. The most effective way to perform artificial respiration is the method of "mouth to mouth". Cleverly rendered assistance to the victim of a solar or heat stroke can save his life.

Children, elderly people are most often exposed to sunstroke. It is worth taking care of people with heart, skin diseases, as well as those who suffer from diabetes.

Why is there a heat or sunstroke? And there can be many reasons, and, first of all, it is a long stay with uncovered head in the nude under direct sunlight. In addition to this, windless weather, alcohol intake, overeating. And remember, you can not sleep on the beach in the open air. On hot days, you should watch your clothes - it should not impede movement and be sure to be light. The headgear should be your mandatory attribute in the sun. Do not let the body dehydrate. Drink more water, take water procedures. This is the basic rules for preventing sunstroke.
