Chronic angina: causes, treatment, complications

Chronic angina is an infectious disease that regularly affects the tonsils of the palatine. Otherwise, they are called tonsils. Located on the sides of the palatine curtain, in the hollow between the tongue and the soft palate, they are a constituent of the lymphoid pharyngeal ring, creating a protective barrier to harmful microorganisms that try to penetrate from the outside.

Causes of inflammation in the tonsils

Systematically repeated, poorly treatable lingering inflammatory process, in other words, neglected angina, leads to the fact that the tonsils cease to cope with natural functions. Penetrating microorganisms are not destroyed and are sources of the onset of the inflammatory process, first acute, and then chronic.

The cause of its occurrence are infectious agents that are left in the lymphoid tissue of the tonsils and throat after poorly cured acute tonsillitis, the appearance of which occurs because of:

  • Violation of natural nasal breathing, often developing due to the curved nasal septum;
  • Presence of infectious foci in other organs - sinusitis, rhinitis, caries, adenoids;
  • Deterioration of the immune system;
  • Proliferation of polyps.

Possible consequences of the disease

During the period of chronic tonsillitis, the tonsils are bright red, they are enlarged, swollen, compacted, adhesions are formed in the wells, liquid pus is collected and toxins are released. Those can not get out of normal channels, thereby using other organs (kidneys, skin, intestines), which causes immune disorders and the development of side-effects: sepsis, psoriasis, thyrotoxicosis, eczema.

Chronic angina is the key cause of frequent pharyngitis, bronchitis, internal diseases (rheumatism, systemic lupus erythematosus, endocarditis), allergic and autoimmune diseases. Under the influence of a constantly present infectious focus, complications of angina such as heart defects, diseases of the digestive tract can develop. In the role of "provocateurs" are unfavorable clinical conditions, irrational nutrition, hypothermia and as a result, angina after angina. The transition of an ordinary disease to a chronic stage is most typical of the adult population. It is an adult who, due to the crazy rhythm of life and constant employment, most often tolerates illnesses on his legs, without thinking what complications of angina may be in the future. Sometimes chronic angina develops as an independent disease: microbes falling on the tonsils "settle" other places: the nose or mouth.

How is angina transmitted?

There are several ways to transfer this disease from one person to another:

  1. Air-drop path, which occurs when social contacts. The peak of epidemics is noted in the off-season or in winter - the time when a person most often coughs and sneezes.
    How is angina transmitted from loved ones? In the process of using some items of personal hygiene, dishes or through a kiss.
  2. The alimentary pathway is through the use of foods infected with staphylococcus. Therefore, before eating, you always need to wash products with high quality.
  3. Autoinfection. This is hypothermia, stress, any decrease in immunity, which causes the activation of pathogenic bacteria that live on the tonsils of any healthy person.

Symptoms of chronic disease

Chronic sore throat is a disease requiring therapeutic therapy both at the stage of repetitions and beyond the intervals of exacerbation, because the tonsils under the constant influence of the infection lose their protective properties. Exacerbations occur up to several times a year, weakened people can face this process monthly. Symptoms characteristic of this disease:

  • Discomfort and pain in the throat;
  • Red, swollen and hot tonsils with a touch of white or yellow;
  • Feeling of stiffness when turning the neck;
  • Increased body temperature;
  • Difficulty in swallowing saliva, water, food;
  • Hoarseness of voice;
  • abdominal pain;
  • The appearance of symptoms of intoxication.

Temperature in angina is one of the main signs of the presence in the body of an active inflammatory process. In the first 2-3 days, its indicator is often 38-39 ° C, then it gradually decreases. Sometimes, very rarely, the temperature with angina is absent. This phenomenon occurs after the transfer of severe infection and indicates a pronounced suppression of the immune system.

At the same time, during the recurrence period, untreated angina may not manifest itself with the above symptoms, but be limited to some deterioration in well-being, tolerable pain during swallowing, which quickly pass, sometimes even without drug therapy. This does not mean that the disease has left the body. On the contrary, it is in the process of development, than aggressively damaging to health. Outside the period of exacerbation, chronic tonsillitis manifests itself with periodic attacks of weakness and an unpleasant odor from the mouth.

Treatment of the disease

Treatment of angina is carried out only under the supervision of a doctor and consists in restoring the function of the tonsils themselves and getting rid of the accompanying foci of infection.

Conservative therapy is the use of special techniques and medicines and consists of a whole range of activities, such as:

  • Modern medicine for this offers hardware treatment, most often this is the most effective method for this form of the disease. The essence of this treatment is a special injection, after which the lacunae of the tonsils are cleaned with a vacuum, and the voids that have formed are filled with a drug.
  • Laser therapy, which results in a reduction in the swelling of the throat and the inflammatory processes occurring in the tonsils.
  • UFO, which is considered the most proven and effective method of sanitation of foci of chronic infection, causes the destruction of bacteria, early healing of cells, increased nutrition and blood supply in the treated area.

The above manipulations are conducted in courses that range from 5 to 15 sessions.

Medication Therapy

Medical therapy in the treatment of chronic angina is aimed at the destruction of infection, the regeneration of the work of immunity and includes:

  • Antibiotics. These drugs are taken with bright exacerbations of the disease, until the pathogen disappears completely. Often, they use Sumamed, Azithromycin, and Cefazolin. Relating to the group of macrolides, such drugs are characterized by high efficiency in treatment and the ability to accumulate in the inflammatory focus - lymphoid tissue. Antibiotics of this group are active against pathogens often aggravated atypical pneumonia and tonsillitis: chlamydia and mycoplasmas. They are also characterized by an antimicrobial effect, which is especially useful for preventing thrush of the mouth, which often occurs after long-term administration of other antibiotics.
  • Probiotics. They contribute to the restoration of the intestinal microflora, which positively affects immunity. Popular drugs - "Bifidum", "Lineks."
  • Dissolving tablets, spray for inhalation.
  • Immunostimulating drugs. To increase local immunity in the oral cavity, doctors often appoint "Imudon".

Angina: how to rinse the sore throat?

An obligatory method of therapy in the treatment of chronic tonsillitis is gargling, for which various solutions can be used.

The most simple and effective is the therapeutic composition of salt, iodine and soda. To do this, a teaspoon of soda and salt and 5 drops of iodine is required to dissolve in a glass of boiled water.

A powerful remedy for relieving inflammation and swelling of the throat is the beet juice. To make it, you need a glass of beet juice and 20 ml of apple cider vinegar. With the obtained composition, rinse the throat every 3 hours.

Rapid recovery is facilitated by herbal decoctions. It can be an infusion of wormwood, plantain, calendula, chamomile or eucalyptus. The composition of elderberry, mallow and sage flowers is also effective. In the pharmacy you can find many ready-made fees. A tablespoon of any of them should be brewed in a glass of boiling water, filtered and used as directed. From medicinal compounds in the treatment of angina effective "Chlorophyllipt", "Iodinol", "Furacilin", "Lugol", "Miramistin", "Octenisept", "Dioxydin".

Features of nutrition in the period of illness

Paying attention to the correct use of medicines, it is necessary to follow the diet. Food should be warm and semi-liquid. An important factor in the treatment of chronic tonsillitis is an abundant and warm drink, the action of which is directed at preventing dehydration and warming up the throat.

In the ineffectiveness of drug treatment as an extreme option, doctors use a surgical method, consisting in partial or complete removal of the tonsils. Avoid surgery will allow timely access to a doctor.

Folk methods

Drug treatment for chronic tonsillitis can be successfully combined with folk methods, tested by more than one generation of connoisseurs of their properties. Effective decoction of flowers of sage, plantain and sundew, taken for 50 grams. This composition is required to grind and boil a couple of minutes in a liter of boiling water. Then insist for an hour, filter out. Take a tablespoon three times a day. It is very useful to regularly use honey, lemon, onions and green onions. It is necessary to increase the number of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries in your diet.

Full examination of the body with angina

In the treatment of chronic tonsillitis should be examined not only the oral cavity, but also the gastrointestinal tract. After tonsils, which ceased to fully fulfill their natural functions, could allow infection to enter the body. If with occasional angina requires regular irrigation of the oral cavity, the intake of antibiotics, vitamins and other medicines, then in its chronic form with the purpose of revealing the cause of disease it is important to pass all medical specialists: from the immunologist to the dentist. Indeed, the timely detection of foci of infection helps to rid the person of many suffering.
