Drama Theater (Tula): history, repertoire

The Drama Theater (Tula) has existed for more than one century. It is popular with residents of the city. Its repertoire is diverse, in addition to performances for adults, there are also performances for children. On the stage of the theater were great actors.

History of the theater

In 1777, from a provincial town belonging to the Moscow province, Tula turned into an independent provincial capital. On this occasion, celebrations were held, where the very first theatrical performance was given. Almost immediately the theater gained popularity thanks to an interesting repertoire, a brilliant game of actors and affordable ticket prices.

In 1787, the Empress Catherine the Great visited the Tula Theater. She liked the play, and she sent two of the best actors to St. Petersburg to improve her skills.

On the Tula scene the great MS worked. Shchepkin. MN Yermolov, LP Nikulina-Kositskaya, PS Mochalov, Stanislavsky's troupe and others went on tours here.

The Tula Drama Theater was one of the first to stage plays based on LN Tolstoy's plays, and the author even took part in rehearsals.

The troupe received its own building only in 1912. Now it belongs to the regional philharmonic society. Only in 1970, especially for the Tula Theater, was built a unique building, in which he lives today. The first performance that the troupe gave in the new room was A. Stein's play "Time in captivity".

From 1989 to 2011 he headed the theater AI Popov (until his death) - a student of the great GA Tovstonogov.

In 1995 the theater received the title "Academic".

The Tula troupe conducts active tour activity.

Now the artistic director of the theater is G. V. Strelkov.

Troupe

The Drama Theater (Tula) gathered on its stage 45 talented actors. Among them, one actor has the title of People's Artist of Russia. This is Boris Zavolokin. Eleven actors were awarded the title of "Honored Artist of Russia". These are Olga Krasikova, Gennady Vershinin, Elena Popenko, Victor Ananin, Igor Nebolsin, Lyubov Spirikhina, Valery Zhukov, Natalya Savchenko, Andrei Sidorenko, Irina Fedotova, Natalia Druzhinina. One actor has the title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus. This is Victor Chepelev.

Tour Geography

The Drama Theater (Tula) conducts active tours. The troupe was in many cities of Russia: Ryazan, Orel, Arkhangelsk, Noginsk, Kaluga, Moscow, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Babruysk, Volgograd, Vologda, Kursk, In Belgorod, Kirov, Tambov, Ufa, Bryansk, Kostroma, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Izhevsk, Saratov, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Simferopol, Cherepovets, Stavropol, Rostov-on-Don, On-Don, in Mykolayiv and other places.

Branch

The Drama Theater (Tula) has its own branch in Novomoskovsk. There is a troupe in this city since 1934. Originally it was an amateur theater-studio. Komsomol builders studied for 6-7 hours a day. We went to rehearsals in the Moscow Art Theater, in the theater of V. Meyerhold and so on. Teachers were such personalities as A. Tairov, V. Pashenny and I. Moskvin. They came to spend time with the students. In 1937, professionals joined the amateur troupe, who came from other cities. The first performances of actors and fans were "Woe from Wit" and "Profitable Place". In 1938 the theater received professional status. In 1941, the troupe was evacuated, many artists went to the front and not all returned. During the war the theater disintegrated. The company was reassembled from the artists transferred from the Smolensk region by the order of the Arts Department. The creative way of the theater was not easy. For 50 years he did not have his own building. Since 1999, the theater is named after VM Kachalin. Vladimir Mikhailovich - a bright and talented man, for his creative life he embodied on the stage more than 300 different images. The characters he created were remembered. Creating an image, he penetrated into the very depth of the essence of his hero.

The pride of the theater is cooperation with famous people - with Nikolay Slichenko, Innokentiy Smoktunovsky, Iya Savvina, Tamara Semina and others.

The repertoire is diverse, it includes modernity and classics. On the stage - all the famous characters and new, not familiar to the public heroes.

Actors take part in city holidays (Victory Day, May 1, Children's Day, Russia Day, etc.), perform at various venues and stadiums. During the holidays the troupe conducts the action "Theater for children".
