Outside drainage: device, installation technology, materials

The drainage system during the operation of the house plays an important role. Its main task is the collection and removal of sedimentary flows in the right place. A competent drainage system helps prevent the destruction of the facade, walls, foundation of the building. In addition, the drainage refers to the element of decorative design of the house. Collected rainwater can be used for various household needs, watering plants.

Types of drains

There are two main types of drains that divert melted and rainwater:

  1. Outdoors drain.
  2. Interior.

They are installed on both a standard hard roof and a soft one.

Internal drainage system

With such a sewage system device, all operating elements are located inside the building. This type of drainage does not allow to freeze pipes and is used only on flat roofs. From the exterior it differs in that it is not visible from the facade, which significantly improves the exterior. Wastes from sewage pipes enter the drainage or in the designated place in the yard.

The system includes:

  • pipeline;
  • Receiving funnels with a collector;
  • Special connectors that allow you to clean the system.

Outdoors Outlet

This is the most popular drainage system installed on the facade of the building. It is the external drainage that most of the country and private houses are equipped with. The main advantage of this technology is that the drainage system can be installed after the construction of the building is finished, while the internal one is installed before the finishing works.

The water intake funnels are located in the corners of the house, each of them can be taken separately into the drainage or, by connecting with pipes, to provide a drain in only one branch.

Arrangement of the external drainage system has a number of advantages:

  • Installation is quite simple, no special building knowledge is required.
  • The system practically does not need any maintenance during operation.
  • When assembling the structure, no professional tools are required.

Material selection

Modern outdoor drains of buildings can be made of plastic and metal:

  • Carbon (black steel);
  • of stainless steel;
  • Titanium;
  • Copper;
  • Aluminum
  • Plastic, etc.

The most common and available is a drainage pipe made of ordinary steel. To prevent corrosion, it is coated with zinc or polymers (this material looks very attractive, because it is produced in color).

Why it is necessary to carry out a drainage device

  1. The integrity of the foundation of the house is preserved. If an external drainage system is organized, the sewage from the roof will not wash it away and wash it away.
  1. During the hail or heavy snowfall, the drainage system ensures safety. Snow, accumulating on the roof, is collected in large lumps and in case of a fall from the height it can injure.
  2. With the help of a drainage system you can monitor the sewage, direct to the right place and get rid of puddles in front of the house.

All these qualities make external structures quite in demand not only in production, but also in private construction.

Depending on your preferences and needs, you can select the pipe cross-section. The drains can be rectangular, round and square.

Device

Outdoors drain consists of the following elements:

  • Horizontal troughs receiving moisture flowing off the roof.
  • Vertical drainpipes for drainage from the roof of the water.
  • Ravens needed to receive drains and divert them to the gutters.
  • Stubs, which are installed in the ends of the gutters.
  • Details of fasteners (brackets for gutters and holders for pipes).

The efficiency of the drainage system depends largely on the shape of the gutters. The cross-section of this element is:

  • Semicircular;
  • Rectangular;
  • Trapezoidal.

In addition to the standard set of elements, the drainage system can include:

  • Storm channels that redirect water flowing down the drainpipes into the storm sewers.
  • Grid liners. They are installed in funnels to hold debris, which can clog the drainage pipe.
  • Droppers that provide the best stack from the edge of the roof.

Installation of external drain

The drainage system includes two stages:

  • project development;
  • installation.

Any device for drainage begins with the development of the project. As a rule, on its basis in the future will be compiled estimates and work plan. In the project it is necessary to make calculation of diameter and section of pipes, their location, number of receiving funnels and drainage guides. When working, it is necessary to take into account the roof area and the roof angle. Experts advise installing on the branch pipe and funnel at each corner.

For installation of outdoor drainage, you will need:

  1. Water drainage system.
  2. Fastening elements (hooks, brackets, gaskets, etc.).
  3. Puncher, screwdriver, hammer, saw.
  4. Installation instructions. It differs from all manufacturers, therefore, all recommendations should be strictly followed.

First of all, you need to measure the corners of the house. Install the gutter gutter you need to start from the highest of them. Using a perforator and a screwdriver, a bracket is mounted on the cornice overhang. The following fastening is done at a distance of 50-60 cm. It is necessary to take into account the slope of the gutter, which should be up to 5 mm per m / p.

The system can be collected on the ground or immediately on the roof, but the first option is more convenient. Many companies immediately make items with hidden locks, so they will not need any additional fasteners. The only thing that needs to be done is to carefully coat each joint with a sealant. After this, raise the pipe and install it on the hook. In the places indicated in the project, special holes are made for the water intake funnels, from which the drainage pipe of the external drainage is led to drainage or into the yard.

Where to drain water?

If the house is located on a hill, under the drain pipes to the ground, you can lay concrete gutters. On them will drain water down. If the surrounding buildings or land do not allow the natural drainage of the drains, a drainage pit is constructed . If there is a well or well in the site, the pit is located near them. Typically, the size of the discharge pit is 1-2 meters. To ensure that the walls of the notch do not begin to crumble, it is covered with bricks from the inside, leaving a hole at one side for the inlet pipe. Entering into the pit drains will gradually go into the ground. The pipe leading to the discharge pit is laid in a trench with a slope, and is located below the depth of freezing of the ground. If the depth of the deposit is less, the pipe or the ground above it must be insulated.
