Options for teeth replacement. Dental prosthetics

Do you know what are the options for replacing teeth? If you have lost one or more molars, you need prostheses. And, you need not only to restore the aesthetic appeal of your smile. It is known that if at least one tooth is missing, the neighboring load will increase and their service life will decrease. In addition, the bite is broken, which will lead to a deterioration in the overall health of the oral cavity and gum disease.

Prosthetics

In clinics, doctors offer various options for replacing teeth. Restore the lost can be a variety of methods:

  • Implant implantation, which is installed on the place of the lost tooth;
  • Installation of crowns (this method is used if any part of the tooth or its root is preserved);
  • The manufacture of a bridge prosthesis, which is attached to healthy teeth, placed next to the absent.

When deciding on the method of prosthetics, the dentist always studies the clinical picture. If the tooth is present and depulpated, the doctor can install the crown. If removed - he chooses either implantation, or a bridge prosthesis. Implants are indicated if the teeth placed to the right and left of the defect are not depulled and healthy. To mount the bridge, the dentist eliminates the pulp and sharpens the edges.

If the tooth is badly damaged or shattered, the doctor can remove it and then prosthetics.

Materials

The options for replacing teeth are not widely known. Implantation differs from prosthetics with the help of crowns only by fixing the crown area of the tooth. In the first case, the structure is attached to the implanted implant, which performs the function of molar root. In the second - it is put on the preserved part of the tooth, previously reinforced with a pin and enlarged with the help of filling materials or a cultic nozzle.

Crowns in the first and second versions are identical. They are made of different materials:

  • Cermet;
  • metal;
  • Metal-free ceramics.

Steel product

And now we will start to closely study the options for replacing the teeth. Metal crowns with gold plating or polished metal in dentistry are used mainly for the reconstruction of chewing molars, which are not visible when opening the mouth. They are most often cast from chrome-cobalt alloy. These crowns have the following advantages:

  • Long service life (minimum 12 years);
  • High reliability and durability;
  • low cost;
  • A small degree of turning of teeth (as opposed to pure ceramics or cermets), which increases their durability.

Metal Ceramics

Dental prosthetics is a complex science that every specialist should study. Metal-ceramic crowns between porcelain and iron take an intermediate place in strength, aesthetic qualities and price. They are made of several materials: inside is a steel frame, and on top - a ceramic coating. The frame gives the crown stability and strength, and the coating allows to give a natural appearance to the prosthesis.

Metal ceramic crowns are distinguished by such advantages:

  • Service life - from 10 years and more;
  • High reliability and durability;
  • Good aesthetics.

It should be noted that, from an artistic point of view, these crowns are inferior to all-faceted ones. After all, there is an iron frame inside them, they are not completely transparent and this is different from real teeth. If a single cermet is fixed on the front molars, the difference between it and other teeth will be noticeable. If the whole series of visible molars is made of this material, they will look natural and beautiful.

Crowns made of cermets have such disadvantages:

  • The tooth should be impressively polished on all sides, since the thickness of such a crown is too great;
  • Molars must be depulled (usually frontal).

Hybrid prosthesis

Sometimes dentists make prostheses, consisting of crowns, made of different materials. Thus, the total cost of prosthetics is reduced.

If the bridge includes both frontal and posterior teeth, the first can be made from cermet, and the latter - from pure steel. Iron molars for durability and other indicators are no worse, and savings can be up to 30-40%.

Porcelain

Ceramic crowns are made of zirconia or porcelain. They do not have a steel frame and are entirely made of high-strength faience raw materials.

Only single crowns are made from porcelain, since this material is not suitable for bridges. These products can be manufactured in two ways: by injection molding and by layer application. Crowns created by the first method are much stronger.

Porcelain product has the following advantages:

  • Magnificent aesthetics (it is practically impossible to distinguish it from natural teeth);
  • The manifestation of resistance to a variety of effects (porcelain does not deteriorate over time and does not darken).

Crowns zirconiums consist of a frame made of zirconia, and porcelain. The frame of the device is very strong. In addition, it misses the sun's rays, so that the aesthetics of the crowns improve.

They have such positive qualities:

  • Durability and high strength;
  • Excellent aesthetic qualities;
  • The appearance remains unchanged for a long time.

Both varieties of ceramic crowns have the only drawback - a high price.

Finger jaws

And now consider removable prosthetics. Plug-in bridges are divided into several groups:

  • Removable full plastic plate prostheses;
  • Removable partial prostheses (lamellar plastic bridges and implied prostheses , clasp jaws, removable sectors of dentition);
  • Conditionally removable bridges.

Plastic dentures are made of acrylic. They are in great demand in dentistry, because they can be used by people of different ages. Plastic designs are used with full or partial absence of teeth. They may be:

  • Removable and non-removable;
  • Pressed and molded;
  • Temporary and permanent.

Reconstruction of the molar

What is a removable denture for one tooth? If you have destroyed or removed a molar, the dentist will install a cermet crown. Unfortunately, sometimes this can not be done for various reasons. The only solution in this situation is a replacement prosthesis.

It can have an internal concave part, which is necessary in order to cover the damaged tooth. If solid fabrics are completely absent, then a solid device is used.

A removable denture for one tooth can be attached in various ways. Depending on this, it can be of several kinds. The prosthesis on the clasps is the most famous kind of such a system. It consists of a basis, the molar itself and a pair of locks covering the natural teeth. Basis and locks are made of plastic or nylon. Their texture and color are the same as for natural gums, so an artificial tooth is quite difficult to notice.

Features of wearing and care

So, we practically studied removable prosthetics. If the prosthesis for one tooth is removed, this does not mean that it needs to be removed every night. Today the patient can wear the designs for months, without feeling any inconvenience.

Remove the device once a week for disinfection in a special solution. Teeth with such a prosthesis can be cleaned, as is customary, since it is not necessary to remove it. This nuance is distinguished for the care of such devices from the cleaning of conventional bridges.

Cost

How much does a tooth replacement cost? The price is affordable for all patients, since low-cost plastic is used to create such a product. For a synthetic tooth will need to pay about 1000 rubles. In some clinics, they are asked separately to purchase clasps.

If such a design is used as a temporary replacement for a metal-ceramic crown, very often its price is already included in the total cost of the service.
