Dissection of teeth for cermet: features of technology

Prosthetic dentistry in modern dentistry takes a special and extremely important place. After all, from their damage and the subsequent loss is not insured by anybody. Today, the dental industry offers a huge variety of prosthetic options. Dissection of teeth under cermet, which is not in vain one of the most popular options, has some differences from processing for other types of crowns. The fact is that this method of dental prosthetics organically combines an excellent aesthetic result, reliability, durability and relative cheapness.

A special metal frame, which forms the basis of such crowns and assumes the main load during the operation of the teeth, is supplemented with a ceramic material, which mainly performs an aesthetic function. So ordered nature, that, perhaps, the most fragile and prone to rapid wear in our body are teeth. Metal ceramics, which is considered the most reliable and durable technology of prosthetics for today, allows to successfully correct this state of affairs.

Prosthodontics, in general, and prosthetics with metal-ceramic crowns, in particular, involves some initial preparation, called preparation. After all, the oral cavity needs to be carefully prepared for such a procedure. Dissection of teeth for cermet has a number of characteristic features that are associated with some additional requirements for this method of denture.

According to modern standards of dentistry, the minimum possible thickness of the metal frame should be 0.3 mm and the ceramic layer not less than 0.8 mm. By simple arithmetic action it is possible to easily determine the thickness of a qualitative, durable crown, which equals to a minimum of 1.1 mm. Dissection of teeth under the cermet is designed to provide the necessary parameters.

Another goal, pursued by such a preparatory procedure, is to give the walls of the tooth the strict parallelism necessary for reliable adhesion to the crown (permissible inclination is only 7%). Otherwise, it may just not be put on. But the main point that distinguishes the preparation of teeth under the cermet is the need to create a special cervical ledge.

This unpleasant procedure is performed using local anesthesia. A qualified doctor dental treatment for cermets is made as sparing as possible. Using a turbine boron (average speed of rotation - 250,000 rpm), equipped with a diamond tip, the dentist is stiffening hard dental tissues. To handle approximate surfaces, a special separation disc or turbine tip is used, the diamond head of which has a smaller diameter than the ledge created by it.

For chewing surfaces it is of fundamental importance to preserve their anatomical shape. The preliminary shoulder, both on the palatine surface and on the vestibular, is created below the gum edge by about half a millimeter. After that, approximal scaffolds are joined together, and hard dental tissues are given additional shape by the shape of a truncated cone. Then sharp corners are rounded, and on this process the formation of the ledge can be considered complete. The main task of the dentist at the stage of preparation is to prevent overheating of the tooth. Otherwise, the nerve will die. For this purpose, a water-air cooling system is used.

And porcelain dentures appeared in the eighteenth century. True, modern dental technology, unlike the techniques of 300 years ago, allows almost anyone who wants to make a white-tooth smile a Hollywood star.
