Crown made of metal all-in-one: photo, reviews, installation. Manufacturing of metal crowns on teeth

Metal crowns on the teeth are still popular, since nothing is more reliable and stronger in prosthetics. Such products were worn for a long time by our ancestors, and they still continue to serve people with their longevity. Although the view of the crowns is far from the most attractive, but the price and quality correspond to reality.

What it is

One- piece crown is a metal product, which is made from various alloys of titanium metal, chromium-cobalt, chromium-nickel, and its structure is cast completely. The main zone of use of this kind of crowns is prosthetics of the chewing type of teeth. This is due to their poor aesthetic component.

The crown (metal) cast-piece is considered a high-precision product, which though differs in metallic color, but very tightly sits in the oral cavity. Such crowns are an excellent choice for distant teeth.

Advantages of solid products

Such material has a number of advantages, namely:

  1. Strongly adheres to dental tissues.
  2. Has safety (teeth do not break and do not chip).
  3. It has a natural anatomical shape.
  4. A small price compared to other analogs.
  5. Do not erase the opposing teeth.
  6. Remarkably renews chewing productivity.

Reasons for installation

Experts advise placing metal crowns only in certain cases, if:

  • The teeth that are responsible for chewing are destroyed;
  • Sections of the jaw row markedly worn;
  • The tooth is badly damaged or injured;
  • Implants are on the teeth.

To deliver such a product, you must visit at least two times to the dentist-orthopedist. First, the doctor will get acquainted with the x-ray images of the oral jaw, then he will begin caries therapy of those teeth where the crowns from the metal will be installed. From the place where the turning or preparation is planned, the nerve is removed.

Crown metallic: types

Typically, when a patient seeks help from a dentist to put a crown of metal, he is offered two options, depending on the method of production:

  1. One-piece product. It is made by special casts by the method of burning in an oven. Such a crown differs thick walls, which favorably affects its service life. It is made of base metals (alloys of chromium, nickel, steel) and noble (platinum, palladium, gold, silver) metals. Because of the steel coloring, the products are prosthetically treated only by the lateral teeth hidden during the conversation. They are ideally suited for prosthetics of chewing teeth, because they withstand considerable loads.
  2. The stamped crown is a typical sleeve, which is ground with a special machine to give the product the desired shape.

Modeling of a cast crown

Such a product is considered a reliable variant of prosthetics and is installed from a cobalt-chromium alloy. The crown (metal) cast-in-one has undoubted superiority - it lacks solder joints, and this makes it particularly strong. It well covers the turned tooth, not allowing the cement mixture to resolve and reducing the likelihood of food penetration. The period of operation is 15-20 years. The simulation of a solid crown contains several items:

  • Molding of the prosthesis;
  • Tooth preparation (0.2 to 0.6 mm tissue is removed);
  • Production of a wax cap by means of a tightening;
  • Finishing, fit, polishing, polishing the metal surface;
  • Making casts, including opposing and neighboring teeth.

Samples of such products

For today in the office of the dentist-orthopedist put solid-cast metal crowns (reviews about them from the majority of patients can only hear positive) of several types:

  1. Without sputtering - simple products of steel color.
  2. With spraying. If the patient does not fit such a "beauty", if desired, the crown can be made with a spray that mimics gold.
  3. Coated. Even more aesthetic considered products, lined with ceramics. Their façade side is covered with a ceramic lining. However, one should be extremely cautious at the time of eating, because ceramics can be broken.
  4. Combined. With this prosthetics, a part of the crowns is covered with ceramics, while others that are concealed with a smile are placed without facing.

Stamped crowns

Are prostheses made from factory cases, which are given the necessary shape. Products are thin shells, so there is no need to grind a large number of tooth tissues. Crown (metal) is installed if there is no destruction of the roots, and 1/3 of the tooth is retained. For its production, gold or stainless steel is used.

The ease of creation determined not only a low price, but also a short service life of the material. Gold stamped crowns are made from an alloy, which accounts for 90% of gold.

Production steps

There are certain stages of creating such a crown:

  • The patient is imaged with both jaws to model the product, which should be performed for 15 minutes, until the compression of the raw material has occurred;
  • The gypsum marks the lines of the prosthesis so that it does not come out too wide or narrow;
  • Then there is a simulation of wax, which is applied to the surface of gypsum - thus, the crown (metallic) Receives anatomical form;

  • On the model drawn, a steel die is created, which is inserted into the sleeve;
  • External stamping is performed with a screw press;
  • The stamp is removed, and the edges of the product are cut with special scissors.

During the manufacturing period, firing is repeatedly performed, so that the metal becomes more stubborn and sturdy. The prosthesis should not have irregularities and cracks.

Indications for the installation of a stamped product

Installation of the metal crown is performed:

  • For the preliminary prosthetics of the milk tooth before changing it to a permanent tooth;
  • To save a healthy tooth;
  • As a fundamental component when installing a bridge ;
  • If the tooth is so injured or damaged by caries that it is impossible to renew it with a seal.

Process of installation of crowns

Such an event usually takes place in 2 stages:

  1. Initially, the product is placed temporarily, so that the doctor can observe the reaction of the tooth.
  2. If the patient does not complain of pain, then at the next visit, the crown is removed, cleaned from the pre-cement and reinstalled, but by means of zinc-phosphate or glass ionomer cement.

If as a result of the first installation it is found that the metal crown (the photo is shown below) causes the patient discomfort, then it will be removed and processed again.

What should be the right product

Correctly produced and delivered crown:

  • Firmly adheres to the shell of the tooth;
  • Has a smooth, polished form;
  • Sags into the dentogingival recess 0.2 mm;
  • Reproduces the anatomical shape of the molar;
  • Contacts the adjacent and opposite teeth.

Contraindications for the installation

In some cases it is not recommended to put a metal crown, if there is:

  • bruxism;
  • The presence of an allergic reaction to steel;
  • Broken bite of dentition;
  • Perceptible damage to the living tooth;
  • Complex due to poor aesthetics when prosthetics of the front teeth.

What harm does the crown have?

In certain situations, this product may cause damage:

  1. Due to its installation, galvanic syndrome may appear. This is due to the use of several alloys to create an orthopedic structure. Mixing of different materials leads to the formation of a galvanic current. There are headaches, swelling, some diseases, smack of metal, sleep disturbance, burning in the mouth.
  2. Crown (stamped) do not produce on individual casts, in this regard, it is unsuitable for sufficient restoration of the functions of a living tooth.
  3. The product does not closely adhere to the tooth, creating a gap between the walls of the lumen, into which the remains of food penetrate. Therefore under it rotting of healthy tissues can come.
  4. Whole-core crown differs good thermal conductivity. If it was placed on a non-punctured tooth, unpleasant sensations may appear during the reception of hot food.

Ageless technology

The production of metal crowns is "eternally young" technology of the last century, which has not been modernized in recent times. Along with some modern and fashionable ways of permanent prosthetics, it remains all the same popular. And this is not surprising, since the main reason for this relevance is the small cost of the prosthesis with high strength.
