Myalgia: symptoms, varieties, treatment

Many people are familiar with the condition when unpleasant pulling sensations appear in the muscles, the temperature rises slightly, pain in the nape arises. If you find time and consult a doctor, he can diagnose - myalgia. Symptoms of the disease depend on its type.

Despite the fact that myalgia is an inflammation of muscles and tendons, the disease can be divided into two types.

Fibromyalgia - pain in muscles, ligaments, other structures consisting of fibers. Primary myalgia always affects soft tissues that are outside the joints. Drawing bone-and-muscle pain, which is intensified when trying to feel a sore spot, is localized in the nape, bones of the hands, legs, ligaments, lower back, shoulders, hips. In the primary disease, you can feel especially painful points.

Such a disease is most likely to affect young healthy women, especially with increased anxiety or in a state of stress. Painful sensations are aggravated by mental or physical stress, dampness, cold. It is noticed that most of all pains of this nature affect girls or women who are susceptible to insomnia or other sleep disorders.

Men also have myalgia. Symptoms of it most often occur on the background of exercise or physical activity. Such a disease is considered a secondary myalgia.

Another kind of ailment is myositis. Aching in this disorder increases with walking, but localizes in the muscles, especially the hands, legs, spine.

Myositis can be caused by infectious diseases, helminths, traumas of a different nature. Sometimes myositis is a consequence of vascular disorders, in which there is insufficient blood supply.

If myositis is not treated, it leads first to weakening the affected muscles, and then to their dystrophy. This, in turn, can lead to disability and the inability of a person to move independently.

In some cases, inflammation spreads to other muscles, causing an even heavier disease - polymyositis. If the disease comes to the surface of the skin, dermatomyositis occurs.

The most unpleasant variety can be considered Bornholm syndrome - an epidemic myalgia, which occurs if the body penetrates the Coxsackie virus. In this case, there is a sharp paroxysmal pain in the hands, chest, neck, very high fever, vomiting.

In addition to specific pain, myalgia, the symptoms of which are intensified without treatment, can lead to a worsening of the general condition: headaches, progressive weakness, fever.

Treatment of myalgia should be mandatory and comprehensive.

First of all, doctors conduct symptomatic treatment, the purpose of which is to eliminate the cause of the disease. Antibiotics, anthelmintic drugs, drugs that destroy viruses can be prescribed.

General inflammation is removed with diclofenac or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory compounds. To alleviate pain, non-narcotic pain relievers such as Pentalgin can be prescribed. For external use, ointments or gels with an irritating or warming effect are recommended: Fastum, Fenalgon, Menovazine, and the like.

During the disease, you must follow a diet. From the menu it is recommended to exclude meat, salted, peppery food, spices.

With myositis in the acute stage, complete rest can be recommended. After the acute phase is left behind, massages and physiotherapy procedures can be prescribed.

Myalgia, the symptoms of which can appear in any person, requires compulsory treatment. In order to diagnose the disease, the doctor must prescribe X-ray, perhaps ultrasound and necessarily - blood tests.

If the treatment is started on time, the ailment can go away forever. If untimely effects on the disease, its symptoms will return throughout life.
