Pain in the wrist

What distinguishes people from animals? The ability to think, exercise, and work is what distinguishes us from the lower beings. But what happens to a person when his movements are hampered by pain? He can not carry out his work, gets out of the schedule, and it's simply unpleasant.

Pain in the wrist is one of the most unpleasant symptoms a person can experience. Our hands together with the brain are the basic tools of labor. When a person loses his hand, even for a while, is not only a psychological loss, but also a loss of the ability to work, to carry out everyday affairs.

What can cause pain in the wrist? If the day before there was any trauma or a fall on the hands, then, most likely, the pain in the wrist is a consequence of a fracture or dislocation. Pain in the wrist is accompanied in this case by swelling of the tissues surrounding the wrist, reddening of the skin above it or an open wound over the joint.

In such a situation, compulsory consultation of a traumatologist in the nearest trauma clinic is necessary. They will use the necessary diagnostic methods and help. In this case, it is necessary to wear a langette or plaster bandage, which means that the hand will not fully function for a while.

According to statistics, pain in the wrist of the left arm due to fracture or stretching is perceived by the patients more favorably than the right one. After all, the right hand is working (the exception is left-handed, they all have the opposite).

It is quite often that there are cases of stretching of the carpal ligament apparatus, which is also accompanied by swelling and pain. To distinguish a fracture from a stretching by external signs is almost impossible, that's why all patients undergo a radiography of the bones of the wrist.

Very often stretching of ligaments can be found in athletes or wrestlers, as well as in children. It is enough to bend or straighten an arm in the joint, in order to overgrow the ligaments or pull the tendon. Treatment of stretching is the wearing of an elastic bandage or bandage to temporarily limit movement in the joint.

A more serious pathology is the inflammation of the wrist or tendinitis. This is most often due to permanent traumatization of the joint, stretching of the muscles and tendons, as well as in the presence of an inflammatory process in two or more tendons located in the carpal tunnel. Very rare situations where the inflammation simultaneously develops in both hands, more often it happens in one. If the tendonitis develops in the right hand, the pain in the right wrist will be aching, twisting. It will be strengthened by movement, flexion and extension. Possible swelling of the tissues and their hyperemia over the area of the wrist. This disease is best to begin treatment at an early stage to prevent the spread of the process. The method of treatment is surgical. The autopsy and drainage of the focus is performed against the background of antibacterial therapy. After that comes complete recovery, the function of the hand is restored.

There is also a series of destructive processes that can cause pain in the wrist. These include: osteoporosis, tumoral processes of the osseous system, avascular necrosis of the bones of the wrist, etc. These diseases practically do not give in to treatment, it is possible only for a while to stop the progression of the process.

In the presence of a persistent pain syndrome in the wrist, but in the absence of musculoskeletal pathology, we can assume the development of neuritis. For this, neurologist consultation and diagnosis of possible disorders of the neuro-conducting system are necessary.

Do not forget that many mental illnesses occur with pseudobolevic syndrome, which can also manifest as a pain in the wrist. Therefore, in the case of the elimination of organic pathology in the joint, you need to seek advice from a psychiatrist.
