Erysipelas of the hand (and not only)

Erysipelas (erysipelas) is a common infectious disease that characterizes focal purulent inflammation of the skin, fever and intoxication. This disease causes hemolytic streptococci in group A. And it is noticed that women suffer more often.

How is erysipelas (and not only) transmitted?

Infection of erysipelas occurs through household items or by airborne droplets from patients with streptococcal infection. There are also known cases of infection from the so-called "healthy" carriers of streptococcus, who are unaware that they are actually sick.

Erysipelas: cause

In order to permanently settled in the body streptococcus, it is enough to move the sore throat or get streptoderma. These diseases, as well as scrapes, fungus, infected wounds and cracks can trigger the beginning of erysipelas of any part of the body.

A serious prerequisite for erysipelas can also be diabetes and disorders of blood supply to the skin in various diseases (heart failure, varicose veins, etc.).

Erysipelas: symptoms

The most frequent places for the location of erysipelas are the lower leg, thighs, arms and chest. The disease begins suddenly, with manifestations of intoxication: vomiting, high temperature (up to 40 ° C), and a little later - with a slight reddening of the skin.

This spot, as a rule, has clear boundaries and even slightly rises above the healthy skin. Soon it grows and becomes hot and tense to the touch. Then the inflamed area is covered with blisters and hemorrhages, and the nearby lymph nodes increase.

Erysipelous inflammation of the arm, lower leg or face proceeds for a long time, giving serious complications: heart sounds are muffled, tachycardia occurs, and pressure drops.

What is dangerous erysipelas of the hand and other parts of the body?

It is very important not to let erysipelas on its own. Since it can lead to infection of internal organs (heart, kidneys, etc.), bone tissue and infection of blood. Doctors also call other complications: ulcers that appear instead of blisters, necrosis of the skin, abscesses. Impaired lymph drainage threatens the development of elephantiasis (a progressive thickening of the skin).

Folk treatment of erysipelas

Recipes of traditional medicine can be used in erysipelas inflammation only after the consent of the attending physician.

  1. So, on the affected skin, you can apply a thick layer of fresh curd three times a day. Keep it there, avoiding drying out. This remedy helps relieve pain and restore damaged skin.
  2. Take 1 tbsp. L. Mixed in equal proportions of juices of chamomile and yarrow herbs and add four tablespoons of butter. This mixture is smeared with foci of inflammation.
  3. Mass from powdered leaves of black elderberry, rye flour and honey, taken in equal proportions, spread on the sites affected by inflammation 3 times a day.
  4. The freshly harvested leaves of the burdock are smeared with sour cream and are applied to the inflammation.

These funds, with regular application, will help to get rid of face and face, but do not replace them with procedures prescribed by a doctor!
