Types of ovarian cysts

Ovarian cyst is a common gynecological disease, inherent mainly in women of reproductive age. Pathology is a benign formation in the form of a cavity with a fluid inside. Often the neoplasm does not manifest itself in any way, but it is detected during preventive examinations or when diagnosing other diseases.

Ovarian cysts, the types of which are distinguished by content and causes of occurrence, can be of two types: functional and organic (or abnormal).

Most often there are functional formations that have developed in the process of ovarian activity. Such types of ovarian cysts are considered quite harmless and often pass by themselves, but in any case require the supervision of a doctor. These include the follicular, hemorrhagic and cyst of the yellow body.

The follicular cyst

This type is formed in the case when the follicle inside which the egg is enclosed does not burst for some reason in the middle of the cycle. Instead of releasing a ready-to-fertilize egg, the follicle continues to grow and fill with fluid. Thus, there is a follicular cyst that appears on one of the ovaries and can reach a size of up to 50 mm in diameter. The disease is usually not accompanied by any symptoms. Often the cyst is atrophied during one or two menstrual cycles. Treatment of the follicular cyst is to observe and apply conservative therapy. With this form of education, complications can occur, for example, a cyst rupture, which causes severe pain in the lower abdomen.

Yellow body cyst

It is rare that a yellow body cyst develops that is formed on the site of a bursted follicle after the emergence of a mature egg. Education appears when the body is filled with a liquid. A cyst that can grow to 70 mm in diameter usually does not have any symptoms.

Hemorrhagic cyst

Hemorrhagic cyst is formed when a hemorrhage into the follicular or cyst of the yellow body. In this case, there are pulling pains from the side of the abdomen, where the affected ovary is located.

Organic or abnormal types of ovarian cysts do not pass by themselves and require serious treatment. These include education, which lasts longer than three months. There are the following types of ovarian cysts.

Endometrioid cyst

As the name suggests, this new formation is formed from the endometrium - the inner mucosa of the uterus. The disease develops in a woman suffering from endometriosis, in which endometrial cells grow in uncharacteristic places, for example, in the ovaries. Inside the endometrioid formation is the blood, which causes the cyst to have a dark brown color. Endometrioma leads to painful menstruation.

Dermoid cyst

Dermoid formation is congenital and includes embryonic rudiments of tissues. It often develops in young women and can grow to 15 cm. This type of cyst is fraught with complications and is treated only surgically.

Cystadenomas

These types of ovarian cysts include mucinous and serous neoplasms. Mucinous cysts usually are multi-chambered and include thick mucus. Serous formations with liquid light yellow contents are lined with a serous tissue.

Paraovarial cyst

This single-chamber cyst, filled with a clear liquid, is formed over the ovary from the epididymal tissue. Paraovarial formation can reach very large sizes.

How is the ovarian cyst treated? Treatment with herbs, as well as other folk methods, is extremely undesirable. Modern medicine offers effective methods of treatment, which should be carried out only for the intended purpose and under the supervision of a doctor.
