Motor scooter "Tulitsa" - the ancestor of a scooter

The current "youth" may not be familiar with the word "scooter". After all, they are more used to scooters, flooding the market of small-sized equipment.

Line ТМЗ

Meanwhile, in the USSR motor scooters were incredibly popular among the population, almost as much as mopeds. Soviet industry had something to be proud of. Many large machine-building plants produced motor scooters. In Tula alone, they produced up to one hundred thousand a year. "Tourist", "Tulitsa", "Ant" - these are only serial models, and in fact there were more than a hundred experimental ones, starting with an amphibian type scooter and ending with a scooter called "Dragon". By the way, the latter was not much different from modern analogues, except for the two-stroke engine.

"Tourist"

The scooter under such a proud name was produced at the Tula factory from the second half of the sixties of the last century. According to the idea of the creators, it was made for free movement across the boundless expanses of the Union. The authors, based on previous T-200 and T-200M models, created a different from the predecessors of the design series. Technically, "Tourist" is a motor scooter that has become a notable breakthrough in engineering. It was noticeably different from previous analogues.

Design Bureau, which was charged with the development of "Tourist", has done a great job on improving many technical deficiencies produced at the Tula plant of small vehicles.

The new model had a bearing hood, which allowed to drop the rear of the scooter from the overall tubular subframe. And his new lever-pushing fork provided a good handling. As testimonials testify, this scooter, along with innovations, had several drawbacks. But in general "Tourist" is quite comfortable and reliable. Moreover, at the All-Union motorcycle competition held in 1967 in the category "brand championship", it was with him that the Tula Machine-Building Plant was awarded the main prize and the overall first place. Two years later - in 1969 - this success was repeated. Among the serial models Tula "hard worker" took second place.

Scooter "Tulitsa"

In 1978 "Tourist-M" - the last issue - was modified. He was replaced by a motor scooter "Tulitsa". The new model was a profound modernization of the Tourist-M, because they were rather difficult to distinguish externally from a quick look.

Changes in design have been minimized. Slightly improved shape of the front wing and tunnel between the driver's legs. Modified and fastening the trunk. Scooter "Tulitsa" was produced until 1986. It was then that TMZ began to produce a completely new model. To replace "Tulitza" came a motor scooter of another class. In fact, this was the scooter of today.

Specifications

The follower of Tourist-M had a more powerful engine. "Tulitsa" became more powerful by two horsepower. And again, as in the case of the previous model, this parameter was achieved due to an increase in the compression ratio from 7.8 to 9.3.

Increased engine power was facilitated by a three-channel, more perfect blowdown in the cylinder. But the increase of this technical characteristic led to increased thermal loads. In order to maintain normal operation, the Tulitsa motor scooter received a new cylinder head with developed lateral ribs and a central location for the candle.

It is interesting that the increase in the compression ratio and, correspondingly, the power did not affect the fuel economy and did not require a switch to a higher octane grade of gasoline. Scooter "Tulitsa" still worked for AI-76. Its conrod bearing instead of a roller bearing became needle-shaped. Thus, the life of the crankshaft was doubly improved. As a result, the engine of the Tulitsa motor scooter, designated as "T-200A" in the technical passport, received power from fourteen to sixteen horsepower.

Clutch, too, has changed for the better. Thanks to an additional pair of drives - master and slave, as well as built-in damper it has become more reliable. The designers also managed to make the frame of the Tulitsa scooter somewhat stiffer than the predecessor's.

The side support, based on the user's displeasure, was moved from the right side to the left. The muffler on the Tulitsa motor scooter was attached to the body at two points using rubber gaskets. Thus, the noise was significantly reduced and its longevity increased.
