Mila Romanovskaya (mannequin): photo, biography

Twiggy, Verushka, Gene Shrimpton, Peggy Moffitt - these are just a few names of famous foreign models that conquered world podiums and decorated the covers of glossy editions of the 1960s. In the Soviet Union, on the contrary, the profession of the mannequin was not so prestigious, and a few now will be able to recall the famous beauties of the time - the epoch in which the famous mannequins of the USSR were born. Mila Romanovskaya shines among them especially brightly.

early years

Despite the fact that the future star of the Soviet podium was born in Leningrad, her first conscious memories are connected with another city - Samara. It was there during the blockade that little Lyudochka was evacuated along with her mother. Father did not follow his family - he did not allow the rank of captain of the first rank. Four years of separation did not pass without a trace. The charismatic, gay father of the girl got acquainted with another woman and left the lawful wife.

Officially, the divorce will be issued after fourteen years, but already on her return to Leningrad, the girl and her mother begin to live separately.

Restless childhood

Skinny, long, snooty Mila Romanovskaya is an inveterate hooligan. It is difficult to describe the teenage portrait of a girl with greater accuracy. While mom was at work, she spent all her time in school, then in the yard.

From the nature of Mila Romanovskaya was not deprived of various talents: from an early age she was fond of singing and dancing, she was engaged in sports - running at high-speed skates. The more surprising is the fact that the girl entered the electromechanical school. Who would have thought that Mila Romanovskaya was a model in the near future? But time put everything in its place.

The natural model

Vseryoz about the career of the mannequin Mila Romanovskaya never thought about. Entering the conservatory, studying the history of art - that's what interested her at that time. And what genuine interest could the fashion world have for a young girl, when blouses were made of parachute fabric in post-war Leningrad?

Mila Romanovskaya - a model, whose biography was to be formed quite differently. But the all-powerful case has played the role. Unexpectedly, at the upcoming show, it was necessary to replace the ill girlfriend. The girls had similar parameters, and Mila was invited to try the Leningrad Model House. There it was discovered that Mila Romanovskaya was a mannequin by nature. The defile of the young beauty caused such enthusiasm that she immediately signed a contract, and only a couple of months she was sent on a business trip to Finland. The career of the girl began to gain momentum instantly.

Marriage, the birth of a daughter

No less swiftly followed the wedding with Volodya - a student of VGIK, with whom Mila met from 18 years of age. Then there was a transfer to the capital. In the Moscow House of models, Mila was not taken immediately: they said that the models were already dialed, but they asked to leave the phone number. Started a difficult period: the deduction of her husband from VGIK, isolation from the outside world, friends. And only some time later a bell with a proposal to work in the House of models.

Mila Romanovskaya, whose biography is described in the article, was forced to interrupt her career for some time because of the birth of her daughter Nastya. They began to spoil relations with her husband.

The ubiquitous KGB

The work of the model, connected with frequent trips abroad, could not but arouse interest in the person of Romanovskaya from the side of the Soviet special services. Several years after moving to Moscow, strange calls, parcels from "relatives", vain attempts of recruitment began. The KGB building of the young beauty had to visit four times, but the result remained the same - Mila refused to cooperate. They saved, oddly enough, the advice of her husband, pretending that she did not understand a fool.

Competition and "Miss Russia 1967"

In those years, two girls competed for the title of the best mannequin of the USSR: Regina Zbarskaya and Mila Romanovskaya. They were complete opposites. Regina - a burning brunette, quick-tempered, demanding, capricious. Mila is a blonde, soft, pliable, patient. Passion of passion reached its apogee when Mila Romanovskaya in the dress "Russia", which was originally prepared for Zbarskaya, left for the international fashion show.

At this show in 1967 she won! The blond beauty captivated the hearts of the members of the commission, who called her Snow Maiden, and received the deserved title "Miss Russia 1967".

Inspired by unexpected success, with a huge bouquet of flowers in her hands, the girl returned home. After her came an American photographer who asked him to look for the magazine Look Looked at Mila Romanovskaya. The fashion model "Russia" made her business card. In it, the girl appeared on the cover of a foreign magazine. It was an unprecedented event for that time.

Divorce and a new romance

But her success caused a family break. A drunken husband arranged a fatal scandal for Mile because of jealousy. In fact, this scene put an end to the relationship between the spouses.

Soon after that, Mila gets to know Andrei Mironov. Between the well-known actor and fashion model a stormy but rather short novel is fastened. The initiator of the break was herself Mila.

Another man. Wedding

In her life, as a whirlwind, Yuri Cooper burst. Acquaintance occurred quite by accident - at a banquet in the House of Artists. But Mila almost immediately lost her head. Lovers quickly began to live together in the studio Cooper. The artist did not differ in fidelity - periodically he was visited by fans. But Yuri decided to make Mile a proposal, which she gladly accepted.

Almost immediately after the wedding, a young couple thinks about emigration. The permission to leave was issued within a few months. But any emigrant automatically became an enemy of the people, so it's no wonder that she left career fashion model Mila Romanovskaya. The history of fashion of the USSR forever remembered its Snow Maiden in the dress "Russia".

Years of emigration

April 22, finally, came the long-awaited day of departure. First there was Austria, then - Israel. Cooper and Romanovskaya were among the first to succeed in breaking through the Iron Curtain. Ahead was waiting for the unknown, but she was envied by all Soviet mannequins.

Mila Romanovskaya quickly adapted to the new realities of life. At first, she worked as a model for the company "Beged-Or," a month later she was enticed by the firm "Koteks". But Yura did not like this state of affairs, he all wanted to leave Israel in search of a better life. As it turned out, it was easier to get to Israel than to leave later. Young specialists from the country were reluctant to release, putting on their way all kinds of bureaucratic obstacles. With incredible efforts in five months, Mile managed to get "Nansen" passports, allowing free travel around the world, but without the right to reside on the territory of another country. True, there was only one nuisance: only one of the spouses could leave Israel, the second was to remain a kind of "hostage".

Moving to the UK

Mila flies for a month to London, where only a couple of weeks later comes Jura. Only by a miracle she manages to take her daughter from Israel, because in the case of the slightest check, the absence of a second "hostage" would be immediately revealed. Having reunited, the spouses begin to settle in England.

At first, Cooper did not earn anything. The funds from two or three paintings sold to his acquaintances could hardly ensure the safe existence of the family. Virtually all of the financial troubles lay on the fragile shoulders of Mila. She literally climbed out of the skin - took almost any job. I managed to work in parallel with a model in the London branch of Beged-Or, a typewriter at the BBC and a fashion model at the fashion shows of Pierre Cardin, Christian Dior, and ZHivanshi.

Again a divorce

Yura's business began to go uphill: publication of the first book, an exhibition in one of the galleries in Paris. The latter circumstance also became fatal for the family life of Cooper and Romanovskaya: Mila and her daughter remain in England, and Yura moves to France. Long separations, rare meetings, frequent phone calls - and so on for several years. The logical result was the appearance in the life of the "master" of a new passion. To endure this Mila could not anymore - the couple broke up.

Late love

To gather thoughts at that time helped the favorite work, in which, after receiving the diploma of an interpreter, Mila leaves with a head. Interviews, translations, writing of various programs - there was no time to even rest, not to mention personal life. And only after five years Mila ceases to avoid close contact with men, begins to make new novels - more frivolous and short.

The final point in the relationship between Cooper and Romanovskaya was set in Paris - lunch, a couple of bottles of champagne, a calm conversation and a joint decision to live separately. In a light, intoxicating euphoria from the newly found freedom, Mila goes to the airport, where she was waiting for a surprise - her ticket was sold by mistake. The fateful moment - Mila gets a ticket not only to the first class, but also to a new life. It is on board the business class that Mila gets to know her third husband, Douglas. Only three months later they were married. Today they have a common business, and around the world they travel by their own plane.

Biography Mila Romanovskaya recalls the story of Cinderella. Despite all life's vicissitudes, fate reacted to her very favorably: a brilliant career, a loving husband and a beloved daughter. The Snow Maiden, as it was called in the West, became a true symbol of unsurpassed Slavic beauty both at home and abroad.
