Men's health problems: difficulty urinating

One of the important organs in the human body is the bladder. After all, it is he who accumulates urine. As soon as it turns out about 300 ml of this fluid, the brain sends a signal to the brain that it is time to empty the bladder. Then the special contractions of the walls of the organ that lead to the urge to urinate begin.

Increasingly, difficulty urinating occurs in men, rather than in women. And it can proceed in two different ways:

  • Sharp if it suddenly arises and quickly ends;
  • Chronic, when it appears very often and remains for a long time.

In any case, going to the doctor is simply inevitable. It is better not to delay with treatment. Otherwise, more serious measures will be needed, such as hospitalization. Of course, the main task of physicians in the case of difficult urination is a significant relief of all symptoms, as well as finding the reasons that led to such a condition. After all, there can be several.

Main reasons

Problems with urination in men are most often associated with an increase in the prostate. It creates a blockage, because of which urine can not escape from the bladder. This happens in most cases in older men. Prostate can increase in several cases:

  1. At a benign formation of a prostate,
  2. If prostate cancer is detected,
  3. With prostatitis (infection),
  4. If an injury is received,
  5. When clots of blood are formed,
  6. With a variety of tumors in the pelvic region.

Difficulty urinating also becomes a consequence of problems with the central nervous system. In cases of defeat or compression of the spinal cord, such important control over the bladder can be completely lost. It can happen for various reasons: due to a tumor in the spinal cord, trauma, diabetes, stroke. Be sure to consult a doctor in this case. Otherwise there will be complications that are irreversible.

Problems with urination occur even when there is some kind of infection. Because of this disease, there is edema or a major inflammation that easily contracts the urethra, preventing urine outflow from the bladder.

Often, urinary retention in men is a consequence of operations. It occurs because of anesthesia or because of low mobility of a person. By the way, many medications cause exactly the same problem. Especially if a man already has an increase in the prostate gland.

Symptoms

Patients who have difficulty urinating, in the first place, complain about the lack of opportunity to empty their bladder. Even if there is a desire to do this and there are urges, it is impossible to urinate. Also there are severe pains in the lower abdomen, in the back.

It is worth noting the fact that pain may not be, if the problems with urination are chronic. The fact is that then a small amount of urine still leaves the body, but completely involuntarily.

What to do?

If you delay urination, especially acute, you should call a doctor. Before his arrival, you can take several measures that will ease the patient's condition. Firstly, it is good to attach a special heating pad to the location of the bladder. Secondly, it is worth trying to stimulate the output of urine. To do this, you can climb into a warm bath or just watch the water that flows from the tap. Finally, it is advisable to use cold water.

Preventive measures

In order not to become a victim of such a problem as the delay of urination, it is always necessary to treat all diseases that are localized in the prostate or urinary ways in time. And another means of protecting your body from such a disease is during the emptied bladder and intestines.
