M.Yu. Lermontov "Three Palms": an analysis of the poem

Mikhail Lermontov "Three Palms" wrote in 1838. The work is a poetic parable with a deep philosophical meaning. There are no lyric heroes, the poet revived the very nature, endowed her with the ability to think and feel. Mikhail Yuryevich wrote poetry about the world around him very often. Contents of the poem

Lermontov's poem "Three palm trees" tells of three palm trees growing in the Arabian desert. Between the trees there is a cold streamlet that has turned a lifeless world into a beautiful oasis, a paradise that at any time of the day and night is ready to shelter a stranger and quench his thirst. All would be nothing, but the palms are bored alone, they want to be useful to someone, and they grow up in a place where no one's foot has stepped. Only they turned to God with a request to help them fulfill their destiny, as a caravan of merchants appears on the horizon.

Palms are happy to meet people, nodding them with shaggy tops, but the beauty of the surrounding places is indifferent. Merchants collected full jugs of cold water, and the trees were chopped to make a fire. Once a blossoming oasis overnight turned into a handful of ashes, which soon the wind blew. The caravan left, and in the desert there was only a lonely and defenseless streamlet, drying under the hot rays of the sun and being carried by flying sand.

"Fear your desires - sometimes they come true"

Lermontov "Three Palms" wrote to reveal the nature of the relationship between man and nature. People very rarely appreciate what the world gives them, they are cruel and heartless, they think only of their own profit. Guided by a momentary whim, a person, without hesitation, is able to destroy a fragile planet, on which he himself lives. Analysis of Lermontov's poem "Three Palms" shows that the author wanted to make people think about their behavior. Nature can not defend itself, but it is capable of revenge.

From a philosophical point of view, the poem contains religious themes. The poet is convinced that the Creator can get everything that his heart desires, only if he will satisfy the final result? Everyone has his own destiny, life goes as predicted from above, but if a person refuses to accept this and begs something, then such a rush can lead to fatal consequences - this is what Lermontov warns the reader about.

Three palms are prototypes of people who are prone to pride. Heroines do not understand that they are not puppeteers, but only puppets in the wrong hands. Often, we are striving for some cherished goal, trying to accelerate events, in all ways trying to translate the desire into reality. But in the end, the result does not bring pleasure, but disappointment, the goal set does not justify the expectations. Lermontov "Three Palms" wrote to repent of his sins, understand the motives of his actions and warn other people of the desire to get something that does not belong to them by right. Sometimes dreams really come true, turning not joyful events, but a catastrophe.
