"Glove". Schiller. Analysis of the ballad

The famous German poet Johann Friedrich Schiller mainly wrote ballads based on legendary or mythological subjects - they give his works brightness and uniqueness. The poem "Glove" was no exception. Schiller described the era of brave, strong knights and beautiful ladies, and although these times have long been in the past, the themes of the works of the German writer are still relevant and interesting for readers.

All the ballads of the poet are filled with a special drama, hiding deep knowledge. Heroes in them constantly must prove to society their courage and devotion to their homeland, to show nobility, courage, fearlessness and selflessness. In many works of Schiller there is a similarity with the works of Shakespeare - the great English playwright. We can say with all confidence that Frederick became his faithful follower.

The basis of the ballad "Glove" Schiller put a real historical fact. The plot takes us to the times of knights and court ladies. It may seem rather banal and unremarkable, but the author managed to show the real depth of the work, made the reader think about the situation, find out who is right and who is to blame. About events that happened at the court of the French king in the XV century, says in his ballad Shiller - "Glove".

The summary of the work can be divided into several scenes. Initially, the king with nobles gathered on the show to watch the battle between wild animals. The first to enter the arena was a huge lion, which soon lay down on the sidelines. Then came the brave tiger, but, seeing a stronger opponent, did not get involved in trouble. Running out after two leopards attacked the striped beast, but the menacing growl of the lion forced them to move aside. But to know wanted to continue the bloody spectacle ... Creating a ballad "Glove", Schiller wanted to emphasize human cruelty and heartlessness.

Among the audience was a young beauty Kinigunda, who wished to check the sincerity of feelings for her knight Delorme, and at the same time and have fun. The lady deliberately threw her glove into the arena, which fell right between the predators. Kinigunda turns to the knight with an innocent request to bring the dropped item and thereby prove his loyalty. Delorzh understands that the beauty did it on purpose, but she can not not fulfill the request, because the refusal will undermine his reputation. With the help of the ballad "Glove" Schiller wanted to draw the reader's attention to the value of human life.

The animals did not touch Delorza - he brought a glove to his lady, but he did not like her praise and confessions, because he realized that Kinigunda does not like him and does not appreciate his actions. Moreover, the glove flew to the arrogant beauty in the face.

The main meaning of the work is that nothing can be more valuable than a person's life, and it is foolish to risk it for the whims of a spoiled girl. Despite the fact that so much time has passed, the ballad still attracts attention and makes you think about the meaning - the eternal work was created by Schiller ... The glove (the translation of Zhukovsky is the most accurate and understandable to the reader) as a symbolic detail - the embodiment of another's will, demanding ridiculous Victims and senseless evidence of feelings ... Reading a ballad, you involuntarily think about the true value of love and life.
