Khmelnytsky National University is one of the largest and most authoritative universities in Western Ukraine. Here specialists are trained in 19 fields of knowledge. They conduct educational, scientific, methodical and educational work.

From branch to institute

KhNU (Khmelnytsky National University) was established on the basis of the branch of the Ukrainian Polygraphic Institute. I. Fedorov by order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Ukrainian SSR dated September 29, 1967 with the original name Khmelnitsky Technological Institute of Consumer Services (HTIBO). His main task at that time was to train highly qualified specialists for the enterprises of the consumer services system in the following specialties:

  • Machines and devices of light industry;
  • Economy and organization of consumer services;
  • Chemical technology, finishing equipment;
  • TM, metal-cutting machines and tools.

By the end of the 1980s, the institute had turned into a multidisciplinary university, since it trained specialists for a wide range of branches of the national economy, such as machine building, light industry, radio engineering and electronics, and consumer services.

From the Institute to the University

June 4, 1989 HTIBO renamed the Khmelnitsky Institute of Technology (HTI). The specifics of the institute's activities, its importance for the Podolsky region, strong material and technical base, personnel support of the educational process, scientific activity allowed accrediting the HTI on the IV level of accreditation. Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of 29.08.1994 on its base established the Technological University of Podillya (Khmelnitsky).

According to the decree of 17.12.2003 Technological University of Podillya was transformed into Khmelnitsky State University, and already on 21.08.2004 by the Decree of the President №54 / 2004 - to Khmelnytsky National University. For the years of its existence, KhNU has become a recognized center for the training of highly qualified personnel, almost 50,000 specialists have been trained within its walls.

Structure

The university is in state ownership and subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Khmelnytsky National University is a legal entity with separate property and financial independence.

KhNU is a multidisciplinary high school providing a sufficient level of preparation of applicants for qualifications "bachelor", "specialist" and "master". Educational activity is aimed at studying a wide range of humanitarian, technical, economic, natural, social fields of science and technology. At the same time, scientific research of a fundamentally applied nature is conducted here, scientific and methodological centers are operating.

The contingent of university students is 4,984 people in full-time education, 2,346 persons in correspondence courses and 1,285 in distance education. Increase the qualification of accredited specialties of 340 people annually. The university has a retraining center for reserve officers under the Tasis program. The preparatory department of the University annually prepares 300 people who become future applicants.

Compliance with educational standards

The University possesses a whole range of scientific and methodological support (as determined by the Ministry of Education), which is necessary for its effective functioning:

  • State and industry standards of higher education;
  • Educational and work plans, programs for all academic disciplines;
  • Programs of all kinds of practices;
  • Textbooks, teaching aids and instructional and methodological materials;
  • Control tasks;
  • Complex control activities in academic disciplines;
  • Methodical materials for course and diploma design.

The infrastructure of educational and scientific departments is well developed, cultural and educational work is carried out, postgraduate and doctoral studies are working.

Education

Within the walls of the Kharkiv National University they carry out training in 39 basic directions (qualification level "bachelor") and 42 specialties "specialist" in 19 branches of knowledge. The master's program functions in 38 specialties.

There are 7 faculties in the university:

  • Humanitarian and Pedagogical Faculty.
  • Economics and Management.
  • Programming and telecommunications.
  • Engineering mechanics.
  • International relations.
  • Technology and design.
  • Distance learning.

Educational process and scientific activity of the University is provided by 89 (13.2%) doctors of sciences, professors, 480 (70.5%) candidates of science, associate professors. The rector is Skiba Nikolai Egorovich.

Infrastructure

Khmelnitsky National University is located in 9 educational and research-and-production buildings. Their total area is 85 015 m 2 , of which 53 550 m 2 are training areas. Preparing for the introduction of the educational building in 9 000 m 2 .

In the structure of KhNU there are also:

  • A scientific library with a fund of more than 620,000 copies of educational, reference and scientific literature;
  • Information and computer center;
  • Educational and methodical management;
  • Poligraphic and publishing center;
  • Research and development, experimental and experimental base;
  • Institute of Tribology and Tribological Material Science;
  • Administrative and economic part;
  • Laboratory of technical support of the educational process;
  • A student campus, uniting 5 dormitories (2222 places);
  • Canteen, cafes, buffets, medical centers;
  • Water sports facilities and a sports camp.

The pride of the university and the whole city is the botanical garden of KhNU. In an area of about 5 hectares, valuable ornamental, floral plants, bushes, and many coniferous trees grow. Part of the garden (2.2 ha) has a conservation status.

Educational activity of KNU is carried out in accordance with the license AE № 285221, issued on 18.09.2013. The implementation of educational activities in licensed areas, specialties is carried out within the limits of licensed admission volumes for all areas of training, specialties.
